The real story behind Royal Rumble CURSED entrance number 14
WWE's Royal Rumble
The first WWE Royal Rumble took place in 1989. It is one of the best match styles WWE has ever dreamt of, and it has spawned a few major stars. This notion was first viewed negatively and was almost on the verge of being abandoned, but once WWE tried it, everyone fell in love with the idea.
As the winner of this 30-man battle royal advances directly into the main event on the biggest stage of them all, WrestleMania, the Royal Rumble has since not only become a yearly match but also one of the big four pay-per-view events of the WWE.
30 guys will compete in the Royal Rumble, but some numbers are still seen to be unlucky. Since no victors came from position 14 in the Royal Rumble till 2018, it has been deemed the worst number in the competition’s history and every wrestler who chose to participate on this number was cursed.
After dialling this number, the wrestler either had their push called off, was fired from WWE, or even passed away. Many people believed that this was just a coincidence, but the 2018 Royal Rumble disproved this notion, and now things will start to improve starting with the next year. However, this was never the case.
In 2019 one of the biggest WWE stars at that time Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Dean Ambrose entered the match and after a few months, a big star like him even was not able to handle the curse as he was released from WWE just a few months after the rumble.
Shinsuke Nakamura the Royal Rumble Curse breaker
In 2018 when Royal Rumble took place everyone was super surprised when Shinsuke Nakamura entered the Rumble at number 14 as this was the first time he would enter the Rumble and choosing the worst number in history was not a good move for him.
On the other side, Shinsuke proved everyone wrong as he was the winner of the whole thing that night eliminating Roman Reigns in the last and becoming the first person to win Royal Rumble from the number 14 spot and even became the fan favorite but the curse somehow affected him as he never won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship following his win.
