Sami Zayn has yet to earn a quota for WrestleMania this year. And he has a chance next week on Raw. The former Honorary Uce will have to run through a gauntlet in order to challenge Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship in Philadelphia. Ahead of a career-altering opportunity, Zayn was interviewed post-show last night. The correspondent, Cathy Kelley, cared for the well-being of Sami first.
The latter beat Ivar on the show after a grueling affair. After the match, Zayn was ambushed by “Big” Bronson Reed. While elucidating the toll he sustained, Sami promulgated next week’s gauntlet match as the biggest one of his career. With all due respect, The Great Liberator said that he had some great matches in his career.
But next Monday is going to be an all-out quest. And that’s because it would guarantee him a title shot at The Showcase of the Immortals. Speaking of Sami’s opponents, he’d go up against Chad Gable, Ricochet, Shinsuke Nakamura, JD McDonagh, and Bronson Reed. With such a diversified gamut of superstars, it’s hard to tell who has an edge.
Every single one of them is vying for that elusive berth. However, only one will have it. Based on the crowd reactions, both Sami Zayn and Chad Gable seem like prohibitive favorites. However, only time could tell.
Gable is the only WWE Superstar to have scored a win, though via count-out, over The Ring General ever since he arrived on the main roster. And the Olympian now wants to avenge the hardships his daughter has endured after seeing her dad get beaten up by Gunther. For Sami, it’s a do-or-die situation. If not for next Monday, Zayn would feel like he missed the boat.
Sami Zayn is back to winning ways after weeks of misery
Without a doubt, Sami Zayn has some much-needed momentum by his side. Last week on Raw, he earned a hard-fought victory over Shinsuke Nakamura.
With that, he put an exclamation mark over his losing streak that he had been on since after the Survivor Series. And after getting the better of Ivar last night, Zayn made it two in a row.
He would hope to up the ante when the Canuck heads to Toyota Center next Monday. However, if he fails, it would be a shame for someone like him, who headlined the first night of WrestleMania 39. Nonetheless, Sami Zayn has his fate in his own hands, and he’s already proven how dogged of an exponent he is.
