Santos Escobar wrestled his idol, Rey Mysterio, this week on SmackDown. The two LWO members battled to get a shot at the United States Championship. It was truly a monumental moment for the 39-year-old, as he had shared the ring with the legendary luchador. Ahead of the match, Escobar paid tribute to the late Eddie Guerrero whom he considers his idol.

Guerrero was the pioneer of the faction LWO, which Santos is currently a part of. Therefore, the Mexican superstar doesn’t leave any time to express his admiration for the WWE legend. Escobar and Mysterio are carrying the legacy of the faction created by Eddie Guerrero. Therefore, the match had much significance for the former NXT superstar.

Santos Escobar posted a picture on Twitter with Eddie Guerrero’s poster in the back. He tweeted and wrote, “I know you’re watching.” The WWE superstars have grown up idolizing legends, and Escobar is one of them. He grew up watching Rey and Eddie Guerrero.

Therefore, he considers both of them his idols. He paid his tribute before the match to the Laitino legend, as he carried much respect for Mysterio while walking to the ring. The 39-year-old defeated Rey Mysterio this week and will get an opportunity at the United States Championship.

Ever since joining LWO, Zelina Vega has also emerged as a prominent superstar. The faction has surely catapulted the superstars, and they have gained prominence. It is going to be interesting to see if he is able to win the Championship in two weeks.
