The Showdown between Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle this Saturday at the Extreme Rules Premium Live event is the most exciting and anticipated match on the event’s match card. The WWE Universe is licking their lips for the match, as it is a fight pit match with Daniel Cormier as the special guest referee.
The Fight Pit match involves a ring surrounded by a steel cage, rather than ropes and turnbuckles. The setup of the match can be compared to that of a UFC fighting ring, and a wrestler can only win via pinfall or submission.
This is something new for Seth Rollins but not for Matt Riddle, as he has participated in a Fight Pit match before in the WWE. In fact, in fact he was part of the inaugural Fight Pit match in the company. Matt Riddle had defeated Timothy thatcher in the fight pit match at NXT in 2020. So far, just two bouts have taken place, with the other being between Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher.
Matt Riddle has the advantage in the bout since he has previous experience battling in the pit, but Seth, as a veteran wrestler and one of the finest of this generation, can easily turn the tables.
Seth Rollins was hesitant to wear the eccentric outfits
Seth Rollins now plays a visionary who is renowned for being quirky, pompous, and deluded, as well as a fashionista. Throughout the course of his current character run, Rollins has worn flashy suits, as well as occasionally some unusual clothing.
This is the first time in his career that he has been seen in such attire, and in a recent interview with BT Sport’s Ariel Helwani, he talked about his odd attire. Seth Rollins admitted that he was first hesitant to fully commit to the look, but as he grew more at ease with the role, he was fine with the outfits.
According to Seth Rollins, the attire indicated that he was attempting to pull off something outrageous while also paying homage to Gorgeous George, Rick Rude, or Ric Flair. Seth Rollins said that he wanted to modernize these flamboyant characters of the WWE.
“The clothes were just like — I was trying to do something completely different; you know? Something that was off the wall, but a bit of a throwback to your Ric Flairs, or your Rick Rudes, or another one Gorgeous George. Just these flamboyant characters, and how could I modernize that, right?”
The Extreme Rules Premium Live Event will take place on October 8th at the Wells Fargo Centre in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
