Seth Rollins is closing in on yet another workhorse year for WWE. Last night at the Madison Square Garden, he beat Drew McIntyre in a No Disqualification match. After derailing The Scottish Warrior, Rollins made the exuberant ambiance at The Garden turn turtle. When he got on the mic, a bunch of folks tried to hurl the CM Punk chants at Seth; however, they drained out immediately.
Instead of paying heed to Punk, The World Heavyweight Champion bestowed a heartfelt tribute on Brodie Lee and Bray Wyatt. First, he brought Lee’s name up, as last night marked three years since the former Luke Harper embarked on his journey to heaven.
Then, Rollins actively namedropped Windham Rotunda, whose tragic demise sucked the air out of everyone back in August. To honor the deceased souls, The Architect urged the packed house in New York to get along in unison, turning on their flashlights and serenading his battle hymn.
Seth asked everyone to scream at the top of their voices so that Windham and Brodie could hear them from above. By the looks of it, The Visionary was extremely close with both Harper and Wyatt. Even though Brodie did not finish up in WWE and was in AEW for his last hurrah, Lee was adored by tons of people in WWE. On the other hand, Bray Wyatt came back last year in October at Extreme Rules.
His return imbued a new life into WWE’s product and promised an unprecedented run from the Eater of Worlds. However, destiny had something else planned for Rotunda. His indelible impact is pervasive, and it caused a breakdown for many of his fellow superstars, including Seth Rollins.
Why did Seth Rollins abuse CM Punk at the Survivor Series?
When Seth Rollins met CM Punk in the ring a few weeks ago on Raw, the disdain was mutual. Though they’re expected to feud in the long run, the seeds are continuing to be planted.
Nobody could forget that sight when Rollins hurled obscenities at Punk upon his WWE return at Survivor Series. The angle kept fans talking for days, blurring the lines between kayfabe and reality.
Rollins finally broke the ice on the matter and explained what his mind was saying when he heard the Cult of Personality hit the Allstate Arena last month. On this week’s Raw “Best of 2023” edition, Seth described himself as being in rage and disappointment.
However, he kind of knew it was coming. The Drip God portrayed Punk as a ghost, but someone he’d want to punch in the face. The scorn between the two is palpable and it just keeps growing.
