Sheamus asserts that he was instrumental for the turning point in WWE Superstar’s career in 2015
Sheamus in WWE
Sheamus is one of the most talented WWE Superstars of all time and the Celtic warrior has achieved almost everything in the WWE except winning the intercontinental Championship. Sheamus eyes on becoming the Grand Slam champion in WWE and he recently gave his best at the Clash at the Castle Live event to win the Intercontinental Championship from Gunther but lost the match. Sheamus and Gunther’s match at the Clash at the Castle was awarded 5 stars from Dave Meltzer, with The Celtic warrior getting a standing ovation from the UK crowd at the end of the match.
Sheamus is currently a leader of the stable The Brawling Brutes, and its members Ridge Holland and Butch recently won the no.1 contender’s match for the Undisputed Tag team championship against the Usos on SmackDown this coming week. The WWE Universe is excited about the match since the Usos are only approximately 200 days away from having a 1000-day joint reign for the SmackDown tag team Championship. The Celtic warrior, himself is a 4-time WWE RAW tag team Champion with Cesaro and has had every title except the intercontinental, which we will see him around his waist soon.
Sheamus feuded with Roman Reigns in 2015
Back in 2015, when Sheamus won the Money in the Bank ladder match, and was looking for an opportunity to cash in the contract. At the Survivor Series 2015, Roman Reigns had won the finals of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament by defeating Dean Ambrose.
As the celebration began, Triple H came in to congratulate Reigns, but Reigns who was in a rivalry with the Authority, speared Triple H only to get a brogue kick from Sheamus from the back. Reigns managed to kick out but lost the match when Sheamus delivered another kick to the face.
Sheamus then defended the title against Roman Reigns at the TLC Live event but lost the Championship to Roman Reigns on the following edition of RAW. The Stipulation was such that Reigns would have left WWE if he would have lost the match. Back then Roman Reigns wasn’t getting the desired praise for his work as the babyface and fans were rejecting his persona, calling it a lackluster and it didn’t appeal to them.
Sheamus believes that when he cashed in his MITB contract as a heel at the Survivor series that was a turning point in Roman’s career as the fans began to support him again and so Sheamus feels that he was instrumental in Roman getting the support of the fans.
“The Roman thing [initial babyface push] was organic, but then after that, that’s when everything started to change and that’s when they started to turn on him. It wasn’t actually until I came back with the mohawk and screwed him out of the Survivor Series match that people were actually starting to get behind Roman again, so I was hugely instrumental in that. I knew everybody hated him.”
That was The Celtic warrior’s last world title win which lasted only 22 days. The Celtic warrior now is fully focused on the intercontinental championship and we might get another five-star match from Sheamus and Gunther at Extreme Rules or maybe another live event.
