Seth Rollins defended his World Heavyweight title against Shinsuke Nakamura in the main event of Payback. First, the latter had a video package played where he claimed he was going to target the champ’s back. The two superstars delivered a great match, in which Rollins came out victorious. However, after the match, Nakamura ambushed the World Heavyweight Champion.
WWE Hall of Famer The Great Muta was in attendance for the battle. It was a brutal back-and-forth encounter. Shinsuke gained the upper hand by driving Seth Rollins back first to the announce table and barricade. Furthermore, the Japanese wrestler punished his opponent with gnarly kicks to the injured area.
Clearly, the champion was struggling, looking visibly hurt as his challenger consistently brutalized him. Subsequently, the King of Strong Style delivered a Kinshasa to the back of Rollins. Although he didn’t go for the pin, he continued to destroy his opponent. However, the champion hit a pedigree and a stomp to pick up the win.
Seth Rollins looked relieved, with Shinsuke Nakamura frustrated on the outside. It seems that their feud might be prolonged even further. Despite rumors of a cash-in, the night ended with the World Heavyweight Champion celebrating in the ring. However, after the show went off the air, Nakamura attacked the champion while the latter was walking on the ramp. Watch the video here.

Shinsuke Nakamura seemingly not finished with Seth Rollins
The past month has shown a different side of Shinsuke Nakamura as the company has repackaged him to some extent. WWE has finally been able to utilize one of the greatest superstars to his maximum potential. Since attacking Seth Rollins on RAW last month, the King of Strong Style has become the most focused he has ever been in his career.
However, at Payback, he failed to capture the World Heavyweight title against The Visionary. Despite delivering on his promise by brutalizing Rollins’ back the entire match, he failed to capitalize. Evidently, Shinsuke was frustrated as he attacked the champion after the show went off the air.
Therefore, he made a clear statement that he was not done with the Grand Slam Champion. Fans may have to wait and see the next step in their rivalry. Nobody can rule out a second encounter between both men.
