Back in the day, Stephanie McMahon had a commanding influence over WWE programming. She enjoyed greater control over things and that even led to her misery at times. Once, a bizarre incident, though scripted, caused WWE to lose $500 to a wrestler. The said segment took place in 2000 on WWE’s defunct Saturday Night Heat episodic program. During the show, Stephanie McMahon and her then-personal on-screen trainer, Muffy were backstage.
They were discussing stuff on a roadcase until a lighting crew member dropped in. He’s the exact entity that was paid the three-digit sum stated above. As soon as he (Chris Nelson) stood nearby, Steph and Muffy tried to boss him around. After the ladies inquired about him, McMahon called Nelson fat. Then, her trainer Muffy too jumped on the bandwagon and judged the crew member as a “fat a**”, as revealed by Nelson on the Cheap Heat Productions podcast.
After it was all said and done, WWE had to dismiss the incident by paying a nominal amount to the wrestler. Although it never transpired into that big of an issue, it could’ve been worse had it happened in today’s world. Social media doesn’t spare anyone and body-shaming is considered an abuse to mankind these days.
After Chris Nelson received his compensation, his colleagues were disgruntled. They wondered why the management handed him such a handsome amount. However, on the inside, Nelson lowkey blamed his friend Kevin Kelly for putting him in that position.
Nonetheless, Nelson thought he did great on camera and felt pretty highly of himself. He even joked that he’d have been given an award for his impeccable mannerisms in front of Stephanie McMahon and her on-screen trainer.
Why Stephanie McMahon retired from WWE?

Earlier this year, Stephanie McMahon ended her tenure with WWE. After serving the company with her magnificent versatility, she resigned while at the pinnacle as the co-CEO. However, fans still wonder why she had to quit when everything was going well. With Vince McMahon back from his premature retirement, he wasted no time regaining supreme powers.
Vince McMahon rejoined the board in January, citing media rights renewal as the main motive behind his comeback. But everyone knew how it was going to pan out. Once he came in, the hierarchy underwent some drastic turnarounds. Stephanie McMahon, who was the Chairwoman at the time, announced her unprecedented retirement via an official tweet.
As a result, Nick Khan got promoted to the sole CEO. Steph’s husband, Triple H, retained his role as the Chief Content Officer. However, it’s clear as daylight that Vince wasn’t thrilled by his daughter’s style of doing things. Despite a positive change in the backstage environment since Stephanie took over, Vince opted against her position at the top. At the end, the 46-year-old had to step away from WWE.
