“I guess you really were the prototype”- Stephanie McMahon, Triple H, Steve Austin and more pour in congratulatory wishes for John Cena’s 20th anniversary

Tonight marks completion of arguably the greatest 20 years of any WWE superstar in history in the form of John Cena. He made his WWE debut on June 27th 2002 in a match against Kurt Angle on Smackdown, dating exactly 20 years back in history. Once he gained a significant push, he didn’t looked back an inch as he’s a former 16-time World Champion, a 5-time United States Champion, in addition he’s won the 2012 Money in the Bank ladder match and two Royal Rumble matches once in 2008 and another one at 2013.

Cena also portrayed a Doctor of Thuganomics gimmick at the beginning of his WWE journey in which he used to wore hat and a padlock chain around his neck. Most recently John Cena brought back this character to verbally outperform Elias at Wrestlemania 35 after he interrupted his concert.

Over the years he had numerous arch rivals in the form of Randy Orton, The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Edge, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins just to name only a few of them. Cena holds a 1-1 record with The Rock as both men have defeated each other as Rock at Wrestlemania 28 and Cena at Wrestlemania 29. Also, Randy Orton is greatly considered as one of the best opponents Cena could have wished for having in his opposition.

Although after transitioning himself into a part-timer since 2018, John Cena hasn’t completely took himself off his WWE duties as he always states that this will forever be his home. Soon after WWE began touring once again after the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions got lifted, John Cena immediately made his WWE return at Money in the Bank last year to a deafening crowd pop interrupting Roman Reigns after the latter defeated Edge to retain his Universal Championship.

Now, when again he’s returning as soon as in a few more moments there’s a wide room of opportunities about John Cena’s next opponent. Multiple reports have suggested that it would be none other name the current United States Champion Theory who will have the honour to get across Cena in a potential match at Summerslam later next month.

As to a no-brainer fellow WWE Superstars Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton , Dolph Ziggler ,Stone Cold Steve Austin, Trish Stratus, former WWE star Alberto Del Rio and the new WWE Chairman and CEO Stephanie McMahon have all showed their appraisal for John Cena completing his 20 years with the WWE.
