Nikki and Brie, The Bella Twins, have officially bookended their relationship with WWE. The sisters also announced that they will now be known by their real names, the Garcia Twins.

The PEOPLE exclusively reported that the Bella Twins’ 16-year run with WWE came to an end on Tuesday. The former WWE Hall of Famers also talked about this transition in their Sirius XM podcast, which would now be called “The Nikki & Brie Show.” They revealed that it was mutually agreed upon by everyone to not renew their contracts.

This comes after they publicly voiced their displeasure with the company in January of this year. The sisters also announced on the show that they will now be known as Nikki Garcia and Brie Garcia going forward.

Additionally, Nikki & Brie posted an announcement on Twitter, marking the “next chapter” in their lives. They share a video to not just introduce their new podcast but also themselves. The Garcia Twins tweeted, “Hi I’m Nikki Garcia, Hi I’m Brie Garcia. And we’re the Garcia Twins. Welcome to our next chapter!”

On the first episode of their Nikki & Brie Show, both sisters were extremely grateful for their WWE characters. Nikki admits that her character truly inspired her and empowered her to become “Fearless.” With that being said, both of them were more excited to close the book on the Bella Twins and see what they will do in the future.

The Bella Twins’ Hall of Fame career in WWE

Nicole Bella and Brianna Bella made their professional wrestling debuts in 2007 over at FCW, WWE’s then developmental territory. The sisters usually cheated in their matches when they replaced each other without the referee noticing it. This was dubbed the “Twin Magic” and became a tactic they kept for the rest of their careers. Just after a year, they made their WWE debut on SmackDown with a shortened version of their first names, Nikki Bella and Brie Bella.

In 2011, Brie Bella won her first and only Divas Championship in the WWE. The next year, Nikki followed suit and won the title in a rather short reign. However, their most infamous run came in 2014, when Brie Bella got involved in her real-life husband, Daniel Bryan’s feud against the Authority.

As part of that story, Nikki Bella turned heel against Brie, leading to a couple of matches between them. However, the sisters reunited later that year at the Survivor Series to help Nikki win the Divas title for the second time. She held the title for a record 301 days, the most by any Divas Champion, until the title was discontinued in 2016. The Bella Twins were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021 and continue to inspire the future generation of women’s wrestlers.
