The March 8, 2024, episode of SmackDown was hyped for the very purpose of a massive confrontation. Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins were about to answer The Rock‘s challenge for a tag team match at WrestleMania Night 1. With The Bloodline in full charge these days, numerous securities surrounded both teams throughout the course of SmackDown and during the actual face-off.
However, such a heated segment had to end with physicality, which happened as Rhodes slapped the taste out of Rock’s mouth. The American Nightmare took his revenge from the WrestleMania press conference and lent The People’s Champ a taste of his own medicine. However, just after the slap, SmackDown went off-air at the perfect moment and disallowed the television audience to witness the potential fallout.
The WWE Universe, being excited to see what went down after that slap, were disappointed, though, as nothing really happened. A clip shared on X shows that Rocky did not retaliate and, surprisingly, walked away from the ring. Roman Reigns, who stood beside him, also did the same thing and slowly proceeded to exit the ring with The Great One’s theme song played in the background.
When seen closely, the 51-year-old was seen blowing a kiss to The Visionary and pointing a finger towards both babyface stars before walking out. It has been made official that Night 1 of WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia will host the Biggest Tag Team Match of All Time. The Samoan megastars, Reigns and Rock, will battle Raw’s megastars, Rhodes and Rollins. The result of this match will determine the course of action for Mania Night 2’s main event.
WWE’s cameraman was asking The Rock to speed up his promo on SmackDown
It was obvious that SmackDown went less on time, having to rush their final moments. The most-awaited Cody Rhodes/Seth Rollins confrontation with The Bloodline got 20 minutes, which was still not enough. The Rock’s exit when the babyfaces stood tall, happening when the show went off-air, was evident.
Another moment was not seen on live TV or in the off-air footage but was visible through a fan cam. It was seen that a cameraman gestured for Rocky to speed up his promo to end the segment on time. It was noticed that The Great One talking about Rhodes’ family was ordered to be rushed from the crew.
A hilarious moment followed when Cody and Rock looked eye-to-eye and stopped in the ring. But the crew’s concerns rose, and they showed the signs to carry out the slap and end the segment once and for all. It was a few seconds from that slap that SmackDown went off-air from FOX and ended on a peak.
