Last week on SmackDown, Cody Rhodes slapped the taste out of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson‘s mouth. The latter had insulted The American Nightmare, pointing out the 20-year age gap between the Runnels’ siblings. Moreover, The People’s Champion claimed that his WrestleMania opponent was a “mistake.” On the latest edition of the blue brand, Rocky took it one step further during the opening segment.
The Brahma Bull kicked off the show with the return of The Rock Concert. First, he addressed Rhodes by calling him “Mama’s boy.” Moments later, The Great One sang about how the former Intercontinental Champion was born. Rock claimed through his song that Dusty Rhodes‘ lastborn son was just what he feared. Despite trying to raise Cody right, he ended up becoming weird. This was when a picture of Stardust popped up on the screen.
Further, The Rock serenaded as he stated that Dusty grew frustrated with his son as he found out that drugs and cheap condoms were a bad combination. As such, the Jumanji actor continued to insinuate that The American Nightmare struggles to sleep at night, knowing that he is nothing but an unplanned child. The attacks didn’t stop there, as before the end of the segment, the future HOF’er once again brought up Cody’s mother.
Dusty's youngest son, was just what he feared, he tried to raise him right, but turned out too weird, that's when Dusty said with total frustration, that drugs and cheap condoms was a bad combination, I know it keeps Cody awake, to know he wasn't planned and he was a mistake. The Rock on SmackDown (H/T: Fightful)
Over the past few weeks, The Rock has hurled personal attacks at the 38-year-old star. Whether it is the Royal Rumble winner’s dog or his mother, the self-proclaimed “Final Boss” has shown no mercy in targeting his family. It will be interesting to see how Rhodes responds to these comments as the road to WrestleMania becomes more intense.
Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns will come face-to-face next week on SmackDown
Since The Rock’s addition to the Bloodline saga, it seems that the main rivalry between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns has been lost in the shuffle. Instead, The Rock has taken center stage over the past few weeks. But now, The American Nightmare and The Tribal Chief will finally have the opportunity to confront each other face-to-face.
WWE announced on the latest episode of SmackDown that the two will be in attendance for next week’s show. In addition to that, it is likely that neither Rock nor Seth Rollins are slated for the episode. Therefore, Rhodes and Reigns can talk about their Night 2 WrestleMania main event. Last year, the Undisputed Champion claimed that he was the son that Dusty wanted.
Meanwhile, the Royal Rumble winner has asserted multiple times that he wants to take not only the championship but also Reigns’ tribe away from him. Needless to say, the top stars won’t hold back against each other when they meet next week on SmackDown.
