“I know I can’t,” The Undertaker seemingly shuts down the door on an in-ring return ever again

The Undertaker has been one of the greatest of all time in the history of professional wrestling. Whether it’s his in-ring athleticism or his iconic characters, The Phenom is one of the best to ever do it. Taker has also wrestled for over three decades and has managed to produce quality matches at different points in his career. He finally hung up his boots following his last match at WrestleMania 36 in 2020.

The Undertaker concluded his Hall of Fame speech last year by saying, “Never say never.” Since that statement, fans have been wondering if he will ever make an in-ring comeback. While talking recently during the “Hawk vs. Wolf” podcast, The Deadman reflected on the possibility of him wrestling again. The 57-year-old said that he would be out to wrestle right now if he was physically able to do it.

Taker also admitted that there is a huge fan base that wants to see him in the ring one more time, regardless of his physical condition. However, he acknowledged the other part of the fan base that doesn’t want to see him wrestle anymore at this stage of his life.

Taker concluded, “Without any hesitation at all, if I felt like I could go and deliver, and deliver a performance that people expect when they see my name on the card, I would do it, but I know I can’t.” Considering his statement, The Phenom seems to have no plans of an in-ring return ever again.

Following a defeat against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33, The Undertaker left his attire in the ring as a sign of retirement. However, The Deadman surprised everyone by accepting John Cena’s invitation to WrestleMania 34 next year. Taker had a few more money matches on Saudi Arabia shows after a squash match against Cena.

In 2020, The Phenom was challenged by “The Phenomenal One,” AJ Styles, at WrestleMania 36. However, the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic forced WWE to organise the Show of Shows without any crowd. The circumstances turned the match between Taker and Styles into a cinematic “Boneyard” match.

The match was similar to the classic “buried alive” match that was invented by The Deadman. Taker entered the Boneyard with his classic “American Bad*ss” gimmick on a motorbike. The match was everything one can expect from a cinematic-style match. It also felt like the climax of an action movie, complete with background music.

The Deadman buried Styles alive, securing a victory at the end of the match. It was not what you expect from typical wrestling, however, it was a great way for Taker to sign off from wrestling.
