Back in 2019, Tony Khan along with other big wrestling personalities started a new wrestling promotion named “AEW.” Ever since then, wrestling fans have found an alternative to the WWE. Over the years, the company has managed to establish big wrestling stars by giving them the freedom to express themselves in the ring. However, it is safe to say that Maxwell Jacob Friedman (“MJF”) is currently the biggest star in AEW. MJF has been creating headlines with his promos and also with his backstage issues with Tony.
Recently, the owner of AEW, Tony Khan, addressed his experience working with MJF on the K&C Masterpiece podcast. Khan described, “He’s one of the most dislikable people there is. He elicits that emotion for a lot of people. He’s a very challenging personality and very hard to work with.” Khan also praised MJF, saying, “but he’s a great professional wrestler. We saw it last week, that incredible match to kick off Championship Fight Night on Dynamite. MJF is a great wrestler, he showed it out there one-on-one against (Konosuke) Takeshita.”
Tony also discussed the upcoming Revolution PPV, where MJF will defend his AEW world championship against Bryan Danielson in a 60-minute Iron Man match. Khan described the match as the biggest challenge for the champion when he squares off against maybe one of the best wrestlers, Danielson.
Concluding his statement, Tony said, “MJF, if you don’t like him, get ready to see him get put through the ultimate test of punishment.” Referring to “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson. Khan also mentioned that watching Bryan wrestle for 60 minutes as a fan will be a treat.

Could the fans expect to see MJF in WWE next year?
Maxwell Jacob Friedman has been one of the cornerstones of AEW since it started. Be it his talent on the microphone or in the ring, MJF has achieved great success. He has had great feuds against the likes of Chris Jericho, Cody Rhodes, and more. However, MJF had the ultimate rise in his career during his rivalry with CM Punk in late 2021.
The rivalry generated some great promos and matches and turned out to be the best feud in AEW history. However, prior to the Double or Nothing PPV last year, Maxwell was reportedly dissatisfied with the company. After getting squashed by Wardlow, Maxwell openly called out Tony Khan in his infamous pipe-bomb promo.
Following his promo on Dynamite, Maxwell was nowhere to be seen until his return at the All Out PPV. The current AEW contract of MJF will expire in 2024, and considering his issues with Khan, he might be leaving the company. Maxwell has mentioned WWE and Triple H multiple times on TV. It will be interesting to see him on WWE TV as well.
