Over the years, there have been a ton of NFL figures coming out as wrestling fans. The latest one is legendary NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe. And there’s a reason why WWE CCO Triple H couldn’t hold himself back without inviting the 2011 Pro Football HOF’er to any WWE show at any time. The Game’s offer came on the heels of a video clip going viral from Sharpe’s Nightcap show.

During the NFL legend’s conversation with Gilbert Arenas, formerly of the Golden State Warriors, both men delved into their stints as wrestling fanatics. The pro basketballer namedropped Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts and Hulk Hogan as the ones, evincing he adored the 80s era of WWE. Shannon Sharpe went way back in time and recalled himself as a viewer of Georgia Championship Wrestling (GCW).

The three-time Super Bowl champion vividly remembered iconic announcer Gordon Solie and The American Dream, Dusty Rhodes. Shannon simply didn’t stop there, as he kept dropping the likes of Andre the Giant, Bobo Brazil, and Ox Baker. The 55-year-old tight end recounted traveling with his grandfather to those wrestling shows, which used to be held in small towns.

Finally, Sharpe also revealed catching up with GCW with his cousin in Savannah. Both Sharpe and Arenas didn’t mention anything about the current era of WWE, and that could mean they do not follow the product as closely anymore. However, WWE would love to have both of them on their shows from a business standpoint.

Triple H has hyped up a big match for this week’s Raw

Last afternoon on X, Triple H posted a hype video package featuring Cody Rhodes and Shinsuke Nakamura. It’s a rivalry that has taken the fans by storm. Initially, those who slept on the two have been proven wrong, as there’s a compelling tale attached to it.

Nakamura wants to end Rhodes’ dream of finishing his story just because Shin himself suffered the same ignominy at WrestleMania. Despite going down against Roman Reigns this year, Cody has been hellbent on earning a rematch ever since.

However, to keep his dream alive, he must pip a menacing artist known as Shinsuke Nakamura tonight on Raw. It would be interesting to see who gets the momentum en route to the Royal Rumble match, as both men have already announced their participation in it.
