This year will witness a lot of creative changes in WWE, and most of them are positive. That being said, the current plans for their King of the Ring and Queen of the Ring tournaments are revealed. For years, they’ve been an iconic tradition of the Stamford-based promotion.
Restarting this legendary concept in 2021, the promotion is looking to go a step ahead this year. As per Xero News on Twitter, this year’s King and Queen of the designated tournament will be crowned at Money in the Bank. As already known, the ladder-themed premium live event will be held in the United Kingdom at the 02 arena.
This is the first time Money in the Bank is going global. However, it seems like a major step in redeeming the stature of this event as one of their “Big 5”. Last year, Triple H commented on the existing state of some gimmick based events in WWE, and said they’re re-evaluating them. A lot more changes are expected inter this direction, for the time to come.
Who’s been the best King of the Ring in WWE history?

Undoubtedly, this concept was a huge part of WWE’s attitude era. ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, who’s often regarded as The father of The Attitude Era, was crowned the King back on June 23, 1996. Following this, this unforgettable 3:16 speech marked The Texas Rattlesnake’s actual arrival.
Apart from him, names like William Regal, Triple H and Booker T have all received this honor in their respective careers. After 2015, where Wade Barrett won this tournament, the aforementioned went on a 4-year absence. But, it came back in 2019 to everyone’s delight. However, the fans got upset after WWE decided to choose Baron Corbin as the winner.
In 2021, Xavier Woods won this tournament, whose crown for destroyed by Roman Reigns and The Usos. Also, for the first time, a Queen’s Crown tournament was held that year. Zelina Vega ended up winning that. However, this year’s contenders for these prestigious accolades are hard to predict.
