Rey Mysterio is considered to be one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. Starting off his career when he was just 14 years old, he has been for over three decades now. He has been a tentpole in making the cruiserweight division as popular as it is today. In fact, he won fans globally as he defeated giants even with his small stature.
The nephew of Rey Misterio Sr., he has been with WWE since 2002. He is a multi-time Champion having won the World Heavyweight Championship, United States Championship and the Intercontinental Championship twice each, among other titles.
Currently Rey Mysterio is focussed on honing the skills of his son Dominik Mysterio and make him worthy of taking over the legacy. In fact, last year they went on to become the first ever father-son duo to hold the WWE Tag Team Championship. Even currently, they perform on RAW as a Tag Team.
On a recent episode of RAW, Rey Mysterio was scheduled to face Veer Mahaan in a singles match. But due to some medical condition, the details of which haven’t been disclosed, Mysterio couldn’t participate in the match. He was replaced by Dominik Mysterio in the match.
It has been two weeks since Mysterio was last seen on the Red brand. But according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rey is expected to be back in action soon – and continue the feud against Veer Mahaan. “Veer Mahaan vs. Rey Mysterio (who should be healthy soon as this may happen on TV first like it was planned)” – mentioned Dave Meltzer.
Rey Mysterio last big singles feud came against Roman Reigns
In recent times, Rey Mysterio has completely devoted his time to the Tag Team division. The last time he was seen in a long term feud it was against Seth Rollins. But even after entering into the Tag Team division – there came a point when the Master of 619 collided against the Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
In an episode of Smackdown, the Tribal Chief collided against Mysterio for the Unniversal title – inside the Hell in a Cell! While it was an exciting bout – but it never seemed like Mysterio will actually be dethroning the Tribal Chief. Since then, The Mysterios have been limited to the Tag Team division.
