The COVID-19 pandemic had a massive impact on multiple businesses and WWE wasn’t left untouched by it. As the physical audience number dropped down to zero, the company suffered a great loss. The WWE stars also demanded their pay in the hard times. This compelled the then-CEO Vince McMahon for mass firings.
The firings angered the WWE Universe but the management covered up the situation and claimed that the company had to take a big step in response to the situation prevalent in the world. While fans always wondered what led to selective firings in the company. The reason behind the same is now out to the public.
A top WWE official, on Fightful’s paywall, revealed that Vince McMahon removed all those talents he didn’t like. He recalled numerous interviews where the stars claim to be Vince’s favorite and an important part of the company. He mocked it all and said, “He didn’t like you, he didn’t like any of them he fired or they wouldn’t have been fired during a pandemic.”
The firings included many big names such as Bray Wyatt, Rusev, and Kurt Angle. While the controversial move was highly condemned by all, the company didn’t pay heed and went ahead with its decision. Had this step not been taken, the company would have gone into debt and who knows if it would have failed where it stands today.

Triple H tried to cover up all Vince McMahon’s talent firings
After the COVID-19 situation got better and all businesses started at full capacity, WWE’s ratings didn’t go quite well. Already on the downfall, Vince McMahon was hurled with se*ual charges and was put under investigation for a hush money scandal. Multiple women in the company challenged the then CEO for paying them a humongous sum that amounted to $12 million for keeping his se*ual misconduct stories to themselves.
However, the news took the internet by storm and Vince McMahon stepped down from his post and announced the same on his official Twitter handle. His daughter Stephanie McMahon took charge of the company and is helped by Triple H who manages the creative aspects of the company.
The work of Triple H is enjoyed by the audience as well as the star equally. Triple H has brought numerous stars back to the business and the returns have been enthralling for the entire WWE Universe. With the rumors of Vince McMahon’s return surfacing the web, there is a feeling of disappointment amongst the WWE Universe. “I would be blown away if he returned to the creative,” said a recently signed talent.
