Former World Champion informed Vince McMahon over a certain aspect AEW was doing much better than WWE
Vince McMahon was seeking inputs from Bryan Danielson on how WWE can improve, getting inspiration from AEW product, back in the day.

At one point, WWE was really concerned about AEW’s existence. That being said, company’s then Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon told one of his top stars to present an overall report of AEW’s programming to him. Obviously, this move didn’t came overnight. The turbulent nature of AEW’s more edgier product reignited the dormant wrestling fan within many.
Over the due course of time, the Tony Khan owned promotion posed serious contention for WWE. Something they haven’t seen in years, most probably since WCW’s disintegration. Seeing the unreal growth of Jacksonville-based company, McMahon decided to review that “it factor” which AEW possessed, and WWE was lacking. As a result, the 77-year old asked Daniel Bryan to watch the show for a while and report him.
After going through that sheer madness for weeks, Bryan concluded that AEW focuses on pure wrestling. What differentiates them from WWE is having the desire to present wrestling as the priority, and everything else as an afterthought. Maybe Danielson, who’s himself in AEW now, was right. And all this revelation has been done in a featured piece available on Bloomberg’s site.
“AEW committed more time to and placed more value on the craft of fighting in the ring. WWE’s shows were often marked by long segments of characters on the microphone and short matches. “It feels like you’re watching a wrestling show without any wrestling”, said Danielson.

Did Vince McMahon listened to Bryan Danielson’s feedback?
The answer is, not at all. Despite being informed about the dreadful state of WWE programming back then, McMahon did nothing. He kept inculcating his outdated ideas and forced senseless name changes. Adding to the woes, numerous NXT talent were buried terribly on the main-roster, until McMahon steered the creative wheel.
However, ever since Mr. McMahon retired in the first place and plotted his return, he stayed away from creative. For the vacant spot, Triple H got appointed. And on that very day, everyone rejoiced. As been a general known fact, The Game has thrown it out of the park since assuming his duties.
The entire WWE product is a sigh of relief for their fans. Indicative of his creative ascend are the impressive metrics. Latest attendance figures and viewership are at a three-year high. It’s just a blessing right now to be a WWE fan. If the proceedings go ahead without a Vince McMahon anti-climax, wrestling is on it’s verge to get revived.
