REVEALED: Why did Kaitlyn leave WWE?
Former Divas Champion
Kaitlyn, real name Celeste Beryl Bonin, is a former WWE Superstar. She had started her career as a body fitness model and had gone on to win the National Physic Committee John Sherman Classic Bodybuilding Figure and Fitness Championship in 2007. In 2010, she went on to sign a developmental contract with WWE.
Bonin went on to win the third season of the all-female season of NXT – post which she was called up on the main roster. In 2013, she went on to win the Divas Championship and held it for five months. But within a few months, she suddenly announced her retirement in 2014. Her final match was against AJ Lee – and hinted that she was going back to the fitness industry.
Later that same year, Kaitlyn revealed that she was retiring to focus on her marriage as well as the clothing business. But after a hiatus of couple of years, she returned to professional wrestling in 2018. Since then, she has even appeared on WWE on Raw Reunion episode.
The former Divas Champion recently appeared for an interview with The Sessions with Renee Paquette, where she revealed that why exactly did she leave the company. The announcement from Kaitlyn came surprisingly months after she had won the title.
“I left wrestling because I was like, I thought I was gonna get fired. I felt, like, less and less relevant. I had so much, like, shame. I had gained all this weight and my body was giving me every signal that I was not OK – like, emotionally, like, mentally. I had just so much hatred for myself. I had so much resentment for myself and like, that projected outward towards others and I was like in self-destruct mode. And so I just asked for my release,” mentioned the former Divas Champion.
Kaitlyn has been making sporadic appearances
In 2014, Kaitlyn had announced her retirement from WWE. She returned to the company in 2018, as one of the participants of the Mae Young Classic Tournaments. She was defeated in the second round of the tournament, after being defeated by Mia Yim.
Next year, she was back on WWE TV – but this time it wasn’t in a professional wrestling role. She had appeared on an episode of RAW Reunion alongside Torrie Wilson, Alicia Fox and Santino Marella. She hasn’t been seen on WWE since!
