Brock Lesnar has kicked off another dominant run at WWE’s first event of the year Day 1. He made a shocking return to WWE at Summerslam 2021, and straight up made his intentions clear of challenging the Universal Champion Roman Reigns. The feud for nearly a month and collided for the first time at Crown Jewel 2021.

At the Saudi Arabia event, Reigns managed to pin the Beast Incarnate, after interferences from The Usos and Paul Heyman. But the blockbuster feud was far from over and the second match of this feud was scheduled to take place at WWE Day 1. But hours before the event the Universal Champion tested positive for Covid-19.

The Tribal Chief’s absence would obviously affect the star power of the card, but WWE tried to balance it out by still keeping Lesnar on the card. Brock Lesnar was added to the Fatal 4-Way WWE Championship match making it a Fatal 5-Way affair. If his addition wasn’t all, Brock Lesnar even went on to win the WWE Championship, after pinning Big E.

The Fatal 5-Way match has been the source of a widespread discussion. This was due to the fact that WWE chose to get the defending Champion pinned rather than other participants. Former WWE commentator Renee Paquette too had an interesting take on the outcome of the WWE Championship match.

“I just don’t know why he had to be the one to take the pin. You know, I feel like it could’ve gone to, you know, somebody else in the fight. Maybe Kevin Owens? Sorry, Kevin,” mentioned Paquette on a recent episode of Throwing Down with Renee & Miesha.

The WWE Championship scene has tremendously changed since Lesnar was added to the scene. In fact, prior to the Beast Incarnate’s addition to the match, the plan was to crown Seth Rollins as the WWE Champion. But the landscape has changed with the introduction of Brock Lesnar.

A Fatal 4-Way match recently took place on Raw, to determine the No.1 Contender for the WWE Championship. This has led to a dream match between Lesnar and Bobby Lashley at WWE Royal Rumble 2022.
