“Don’t Care If I get FIRED” William Regal says AEW can fire him over his NXT UK remark
William Regal is best known for his time in WWE be it as a wrestler or other roles in the company. The former King of The Ring had been associated with the company for almost two decades before being released in January 2022. Regal’s on screen stint as the NXT General Manager was rather perceived well by the fans as NXT UK under Regal continued to bloom by promoting some extra ordinary talent.
Also, as WWE recently announced that they’ll be shutting down NXT UK and rebranding it as NXT Europe, Regal had called NXT UK his “passion project”. And it was being speculated that higher ups in AEW might have taken offense to Regal’s statement. But now Regal has reacted to the issue and said he stands by his statement and says AEW could fire him or confront him for the same.

To those unaware, Regal had signed with AEW after getting released from WWE and currently manages Blackpool Combat Stable Club. Regal on his podcast “Gentleman Villian” said- “So, if they want to try and take me up on this, take me up on it and if I get fired from the company I’m working for now for sticking up [for them], then so be it,”
Regal further said that NXT UK was a passion project for him which he started to give the upcoming UK and Europe wrestlers a chance to make a name for themselves in WWE just like he did years ago. Regal further said that if his past contributions in WWE makes his seniors at AEW “stuffed” then they can surely do that.
Regal said– If they don’t like that, then they can get stuffed … This was all done for the right reasons. How it’s played out is an unfortunate thing.” As WWE plans to close NXT UK and rebrand it as NXT Europe, many NXT UK were released from the company contract and reacting to it Regal had said that NXT UK has been a vital development in the English Wrestling scene where there was lack of opportunities and the show had given its own stars to WWE.
He said that it’s unfortunate that NXT UK had to shut down but its expansion as NXT Europe will only take it ahead as Regal terms it a transition done for the right reasons. Regal’s son Charlie Dempsey had recently made his debut on NXT 2.0 as well. And a handful of NXT UK superstars who were retained by the company have already been transferred to NXT 2.0 as well.
