Roman Reigns has been the Universal Champion for over 1,000 days now. He has had some amazing and epic matches with some of the best names in WWE history. Reigns has been one of the most dominant wrestlers in the past three years. He broke a lot of records and headlined multiple WrestleMania during his title reign.

Roman Reigns’ heel persona has gained a lot of appreciation and attention from wrestling fans all over the world. Moreover, his historic title reign has surpassed CM Punk’s record. Back in 2013, Punk had a famous 434-day reign as WWE Champion which was arguably one of the best reigns of that time. There are some people who often consider Punk’s title reign the best reign a WWE superstar has had as a champion.

Recently, a post on Twitter went viral that showed a clip from Punk’s famous promo. It was a segment from 2013, when CM Punk celebrated his 365 days as a champion and appeared on Raw to boast about his achievements. The AEW star talked about how being a champion in the new era was different from being a champion in the old one.

CM Punk went on to prove his point by claiming that he had wrestled week after week to defend his title. However, in the previous era, wrestlers like Bruno Sammartino and Hulk Hogan rarely defended their titles. The post claims that the Punk defended his titles a lot more times in those 434 days than Roman did in his 1000 days. So, the fans still believe that CM Punk’s reign was more difficult and much better.

Roman Reigns has been one of the greatest champions of the modern era. However, fans slowly started to disregard his title reign because he had become a part-time champion. The Tribal Chief does not defend his titles more often. He exclusively appears only on major premium live events. This is probably one of the reasons why the WWE Universe still thinks that CM Punk’s reign as champion was much better than that of Roman.

CM Punk’s 434-day reign as WWE Champion was surpassed by Roman Reigns a long time ago. As of now, the Tribal Chief has surpassed the 1,000-day mark as Universal Champion. While some fans appreciate Reigns’ title reign, others believe Punk was far better as a champion. Therefore, they expressed their thoughts on the recent post.

CM Punk has been one of the greatest champions of his time in WWE. On the other hand, Roman Reigns has emerged as a mega star in recent years. Both of them deserve equal amount of respect for carrying the company during their respective times. The fans don’t often see reigns that become legendary. Comparisons do arise, but in the end, everything a wrestler does is for the fans’ entertainment.
