As WrestleMania is just a few days ago, WWE has now announced John Cena vs Austin Theory for the United States Championship as the kick-off event of Day 1 for the Grandest Stage of Them All.

The veteran WWE commenter, Michael Cole, made the announcement during tonight’s SmackDown. However, there’s no more information available about other kick-off or pre-show matches that can take place at WrestleMania. The PPV is scheduled for Saturday, April 1, and Sunday, April 2 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

A couple of weeks ago, we saw John Cena returning to RAW in Boston, where he got a really warm reception from the crowd. The superstar even got emotional during his entrance. However, his homecoming was made sour by United States Champion, Austin Theory.

Consequently, the segment between Austin Theory and John Cena was highly entertaining even though, The Cenation Leader totally destroyed The Present Superstar on the mic. However, Austin Theory wasn’t able to give a befitting reply there. He surely has spoken about that promo in interviews.

Can Austin Theory defeat John Cena at WrestleMania?

Under Vince McMahon, Austin Theory was heavily pushed and people started saying that he’ll be the next John Cena. However, his character has been developed decently as a heel. Theory is never shy of criticizing any fellow superstar or even the crowd.

Conversely, he still lacks credible wins over big opponents. His Money in the Bank cashing attempt failed miserably following interference by Seth Rollins on RAW. People also pointed out the fact that why Theory was cashing in his contract in the United States Championship, instead of the WWE Championship.

Nevertheless, winning against John Cena at WrestleMania can surely make him a credible contender in the future race of leading WWE. Hence, WrestleMania is famous for returns and surprises, so, you never know what can actually come your way at the Grandest Stage of All.
