Less than a month ago, Monday Night Raw superstar, Matt Riddle confirmed his release from WWE. Throughout Riddle’s tenure with WWE, he often made headlines for all the bad reasons. That said, a recent report suggests plans for Matt Riddle to team up with Drew McIntyre before his firing from WWE.

According to Wrestle Votes on X, creatives in WWE had structured major plans for the newly formed team of Riddle and McIntyre. However, those plans never came to fruition due to The OG Bro’s offscreen antics, forcing WWE to ultimately let go of him. At the moment, The Scottish Warrior remains as a single performer, teasing a heel-turn.

The tweet by Wrestle Votes read- “Prior to his departure from the company, I’m told there were significant plans for a Matt Riddle / Drew McIntyre tag team. So much so, various merchandise items were designed with the team name……. “McRiddle.” This is not a joke“. Their tag team, labeled as “McRiddle”, was a possible wordplay from McDonald’s. Moreover, WWE even designed a couple of merchandise items under the same tag name.

Drew McIntyre returned to WWE at Money in the Bank, London for the first time since WrestleMania 39. Riddle locked horns with Gunther in the same show. Following their match, Imperium launched a vicious attack on the 37-year-old star, prompting McIntyre to come out to the aid of the former. Ever since, the duo paired up with each other on several matches on Raw.

Matt Riddle teases the launch of a cannabis strain following WWE release

On September 21, Matt Riddle announced his departure from WWE, part of a series of releases. Shortly after leaving the company, Riddle hinted at launching his cannabis strain.

According to a report via Ringside News, the 37-year-old star took to his Instagram stories and reposted a picture of cannabis. The picture was accompanied by a “Riddle OG” stamp upon it, suggesting that it could be the name of his supposed cannabis brand.

Before his release from WWE, Matt Riddle was involved in various offscreen controversies. One notable incident occurred at JFK International Airport, where Riddle accused an airport official of sexual assault in an Instagram post. Reports later suggested that Riddle’s intoxication during the incident. A video footage of an intoxicated Riddle surfaced on the internet days after his WWE release.
