Jake “The Snake” Roberts reveals how he save The Undertaker’s Character

Undertaker Jake The Snake Roberts
The Undertaker and Jake The Snake Roberts shared a special bond each other.

And a WWE Hall of Famer and Legend stopped them from changing the character which went on to become the most iconic character in the history of pro wrestling.

The Deadman and Jake Roberts were also a tag team back in the day which was a very brief stint and Jake Roberts also believes that if WWE would have continued to pair them up then they would have minted it a lot of money.

While speaking on the DDP Snake Pit Roberts said- “I think The Undertaker and I as a tag team could have done an easy six-month run with anybody and everybody,” He said.

The legend would then go on to say that the company didn’t consider it for a long time. In the same podcast Roberts would go on to reveal that without him there would’ve been no Undertaker.

Vince McMahon was keen on changing The Deadman’s character but Roberts said that he made the save for the character at the last moment.

Roberts said he was in a meeting with Vince McMahon, The Phenom and The Creative where Vince pitched the idea to change The Deadman’s character but Roberts was quick to jump in and said that McMahon was trying to fix something that wasn’t broken anyway.

He emphasized on the fact that if the character is working perfectly fine then there’s no need to interfere with it. Speaking to DDP, Roberts said- ” I was in a meeting with Undertaker and Vince and creative. And they were talking about changing his [Undertaker’s] character.”

“And I asked, ‘Excuse me. I have one question. Is it not working anymore? If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Leave it the f*ck alone. Why break something that’s working?’ I thought they lost a lot when they went to the next step. I thought they lost a lot.”

Indeed Roberts decision to step up and tell Vince not to change the character of Undertaker gave us the iconic character. Jake Roberts is currently with AEW where he manages Lance Archer, his experience and knowledge should help the rival promotion in a positive way.
