There’s always been a keen eye on high-caliber NXT names. The fans have witnessed numerous main-roster call-ups from the erstwhile black & gold brand, and this year it might be no different. Former NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes, someone who has impressed Drew McIntyre, is due to be promoted to the main roster shortly. Per Fightful Select, Melo has been set for it since before this year’s Royal Rumble.

Moreover, his longtime ally-turned-rival, Trick Williams, is someone who impressed the higher-ups with the crowd reaction he got on an episode of SmackDown back in January. Pitches have been made for Melo and Trick to continue their long-standing beef on the main roster as well. They’re currently set to dupe it out at next weekend’s NXT: Stand and Deliver PLE.

The mentioned report noted that even though Carmelo Hayes is very much on track to receive a call-up, Trick Williams’ post-Stand and Deliver status is unclear. Speaking of Melo, he’s been catching the awe of the WWE Universe for quite some time now. He unearthed newfound fans en route to that sojourn he had earlier this year on the blue brand.

Around a week ago, he caught up with Drew McIntyre. The Scot lauded The A-Champion’s decision to get rid of Williams. Back at the Vengeance Day PLE in February, Hayes finally turned on Trick following the latter’s unsuccessful attempt to capture the NXT Championship from Ilja Dragunov.

The betrayal engendered a round of applause from Rhea Ripley as well. In all fairness, Carmelo looks primed to make an immediate splash with his new beginnings. He could be a major get for either Raw or SmackDown.

NXT’s Carmelo Hayes could join major faction upon SmackDown call-up

In the run he had on SmackDown during late December and early January, Melo showed what he’s made of. Apart from an eventful outing in the US title tourney, the 29-year-old also interacted with Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits, known as The Pride.

Later, during an interview with VIBE, the King of Drop admitted that it would take a lot more than some dapping to lure him into the faction. The NXT Superstar claimed that he’s not thirsty for any sort of alliance.

However, Melo’s open to talk some business if that door opens up. In a nutshell, Carmelo has kept it agape in case an opportunity arises in the future. It would be interesting to see if Hayes gets in touch with Lashley and his men if Nick Aldis secures The Thriller of New England for SmackDown.
