WWE has announced the names of the 12 superstars who are in the tournament to crown the new World Heavyweight Champion. This championship tournament will take place on Raw and SmackDown, while the finals will take place at Night of Champions. A new champion will be crowned in Jeddah on May 27th.
On the April 25th episode of Raw, Triple H announced that Roman Reigns will take his championship to the brand that he gets drafted to during the WWE Draft. Therefore, the other brand will get a championship, and a tournament will be organized to decide the winner and the eventual new World Heavyweight Champion.
After a successful outing to San Juan, Puerto Rico, for Backlash, WWE has announced the Superstars who will be competing in the tournament for the new World Heavyweight Championship. The names of the announced Superstars are Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, Austin Theory, Bobby Lashley, Finn Balor, Rey Mysterio, Edge, Damian Priest, The Miz, Sheamus, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Cody Rhodes.
The line-up is stacked with a lot of former multi-time champions as well as new faces for the championship, like US Champion Austin Theory and Damian Priest. While Seth Rollins is a clear favorite among the fans to win the championship, the inclusion of stars like AJ Styles, Edge, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Cody Rhodes provides the tournament with a mystery as to who might actually win the title at The Night of Champions.
Fans, however, have shown mixed reactions on social media for missing out on Superstars like LA Knight, Matt Riddle, or Drew McIntyre. Hopefully, WWE might have other plans. The brackets for the tournament will be announced on Raw as well as SmackDown.

Roman Reigns will make history at Night of Champions
Roman Reigns is set to complete 1,000 days as the WWE Undisputed World Heavyweight Universal Champion on May 27th. To mark this historic event, WWE will have Night of Champions in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on May 27th. This will be the sixth-longest reign of all time and the longest reign in modern history.
This puts Reigns alongside names like Pedro Morales, Bruno Sammartino, and Bob Backlund, who had similar history-making reigns decades ago. In the modern era, CM Punk, AJ Styles, and John Cena have had long title reigns, but none of them could last 1000 days as champions.
Reigns has wrestled almost everyone during his two-and-a-half-year title reign and has managed to get a victory over everyone. Some of his title defenses were clean, where Reigns defeated the opponent by himself, while in others he was helped by his Bloodline members like The Usos or Solo Sikoa.
