Pete Dunne began training at the early age of 12, and debuted in 2007, under the guidance of Steve “Psycho” Edwards at Phoenix Wrestling. Initially, he used to compete under a mask with the ring name of “Tiger Kid”. But after losing a hair vs mask match in 2010, he dropped the character and mask, undertaking his current ring name of Pete Dunne.

Over the years, Dunne went on to work on the global independent circuit. After performing on several promotions throughout the globe, he co-founded his own promotion – Attack! Pro Wrestling. In 2016, he was one of the competitors for the United Kingdom Championship tournament, which he ended as the runner-up.

Dunne then signed a contract with WWE and debuted on NXT in 2017. He won the WWE NXT UK Championship in 2017. He soon moved to NXT and even won the NXT Tag Team Championship with Riddle.
