WWE Champion Big E surprised the professional wrestling when he pinned Bobby Lashley to kick-off his first reign as the top Champion of WWE Raw. The former New Day member won the Money in the Bank earlier this year. Initially, his plans were to cash-in the title on the Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

But the Universal title scene is quite stacked with Finn Balor and Brock Lesnar already in line as challengers. Hence, Big E announced that he will be on Raw, and will be cashing in his title too. In the main event of the Red brand Lashley put his title on the line against Randy Orton. With MVP’s interference Lashley managed to retain the title but injured his knee close to the end of the match.

This provided the perfect opportunity to Big E and cash in his contract. Initially Lashley did not agree to the match, but a slap from E fired him up. He hit a couple of Spears but one Big Ending from Big E ensured the change of hands for the title.

Moments after being crowned the new Champion, Big E mentioned that the presence of the New Day members – Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston made the moment more special. “I think the dream for anyone in any vocation or craft is getting to do really cool things to get to the top of your craft but to do it with your best friends,” mentioned Big E.

Several WWE Superstars took to Twitter to congratulate the new WWE Champion Big E. One of the first to acknowledge the win was The Tribal Chief himself. He mentioned that Big E made the right move to cash in on Lashley!

Big E’s former Tag Team partner and close friend Kofi Kingston got emotional.

Several other colleagues of Big E from WWE also took to Twitter to congratulate him.
