Rey Mysterio is one of the most loved Superstars in the entire professional wrestling industry. He has played a crucial role in popularizing the cruiserweight division in the world of sports entertainment. Even with his small size, Mysterio has defeated some of the biggest wrestlers in the industry.
The Master of 619 had started his career when he was just 14 years old. He performed some of the most popular promotions like Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW) before he finally arrived at WWE in 2002. Interestingly, he is one of the most accomplished Superstars on the WWE roster.
Rey Mysterio has won WWE Championship once, World Heavyweight Championship twice, Intercontinental as well as the United States Championship twice. These are just some of the many titles that he has won. In fact, his first World Championship win came after he had won the Men’s Royal Rumble match. The Master of 619 recently revealed his most favorite Wrestlemania moment.
“My Wrestlemania moment without a doubt is Wrestlemania 22, Chicago, Illinois where I became the World Champion for the very first time. Facing Randy Orton and Kurt Angle. That match was incredible. To me, one of my all-time favorites and so many good, special moments in that match,” mentioned the Master of 619. But this wasn’t all. There was a point in the match, as he mentioned, when Rey Mysterio missed a 619 and still managed to cover it up.
“Hitting the 619 around the post where I…for some reason slipped and managed to pull it off with one flip. And then going to the finale, Angle Slam Kurt Angle and I drag him out to the floor. Set up Randy Orton…619…and a move I hadn’t done in years. Springboard to top and Frankenstein all the way through hooking the legs for the victory 1 2 3. You have no idea how special that moment was. Not just for me, but for my people, for my fans, for La Raza,” continued Mysterio.
Rey Mysterio is gearing up for Wrestlemania 38
While Rey Mysterio has been one of the top performers for the company for a very long time. His focus is now on honing the skills of his son Dominik Mysterio and making him a future Superstar. In fact, they were also the first-ever father-son Tag Team Champions. While they have since lost the titles, The Mysterios are scheduled to be in action at Wrestlemania 38.
At the Showcase of Immortals, Rey and Dominik Mysterio will team up to take on Logan Paul and The Miz. They are scheduled to collide on Wrestlemania Saturday. The feud kicked off when The Miz got offended with the fact that the WWE 2K22 cover featured Rey and not him!
