Universal Champion Roman Reigns sets merchandise sales records
Universal Champion
Roman Reigns has been, inarguably, the biggest Superstar for the company for well over a year. He returned at WWE Summerslam 2020, with a new Heel avatar. He has been the Universal Champion for over a year now, and the fans seem to be loving the Tribal Chief immensely. WWE had been trying to push Reigns as the top guy in the company for several years, but they have cracked the formula quite recently.
Reigns has been flourishing in his new Head of the Table avatar. With Paul Heyman added to the mix, Reigns is only going from strengths and strengths. He has recently formed a stable of his own, which consist of his cousins – Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Usos. The recent numbers suggest that the WWE Universe is loving the Universal Champion immensely.
Paul Davis of WrestlingNewsCo recently reported from WWE sources that Roman Reigns is the top merch seller in the company today. It was also mentioned that the amount of merchandise sold for Reigns surpasses every single heel, in the history of the company! In fact, his sales numbers are on par with the Leader of Cenation – John Cena.
Reigns numbers are quite impressive and could be considered even better than Cena’s – mainly due to the fact that Cena was a babyface. On the other hand, despite being a Heel Roman Reigns has been a Superstar that the WWE Universe loves to hate!
Roman Reigns will be facing Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel
Over his year long reigns as the WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns went through almost the entire Smackdown roster. He had some really great feuds with Edge, Daniel Bryan, Finn Balor and John Cena, among others. But he faces his biggest challenge till date at Crown Jewel. The Tribal Chief will be in action against the Beast Incarnate.
Interestingly, this match was announced over two months in advance. It is quite unlikely that the title will change hands at Crown Jewel, and new challengers could emerge for Reigns. Drew McIntyre, who was recently drafted to Smackdown, is the most likely opponent. But with Survivor Series coming up, a feud with WWE Champion Big E is also possible.
