Royal Rumble 2022: Two more former Superstars set to return

Royal Rumble 2022 is still a little over a fortnight away, but with numerous Superstars scheduled to appear and some big matches set to be a part of the card, the excitement for the event is at an all time high. While some big matches have been announced for the card, the highlight of the event are the two-Royal Rumble matches.
The Royal Rumble matches – one each for the Men and the Women, feature 30 Superstars in a Battle Royal match. The match kicks off with two Superstars – and others keep joining in at a minute interval. The winner of this match earns the right to main event Wrestlemania. The WWE Universe loves such matches primarily because we never know who the next Superstar is going to be.
Over the years, WWE has delivered some massive surprises with the appearances of Edge, AJ Styles and Rey Mysterio among others. But surprisingly, for Royal Rumble 2022, WWE has already revealed some of the big Superstars – like Mickie James and Lita, will be appearing at the event. So far, 19 Superstars have been announced for the Women’s Royal Rumble match, but reportedly, two more former Superstars are set to return for the event.
According to PWInsider, former World Champion Melina and Cameron are set to return for the Women’s Royal Rumble match. but it still isn’t clear whether WWE plans to announce their return in advance too or wants to save the surprise for the D-Day. Melina was last seen on WWE in 2011. On the other hand, Cameron, aka Ariane Andrew was most recently seen on AEW competing for the AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup Deadly Draw Tournament.
With the inclusion of these 2 Superstars – the total number of Superstars for the Women’s Royal Rumble match comes to 21. There is still no clarity on who the remaining 9 Superstars are going to be. While some of them might be from the current roster, while others could be massive surprises.
Royal Rumble 2022 match card
6 matches have been announced for WWE Royal Rumble 2022 card. Two of these are the Royal Rumble matches, 3 are Championship bouts and the remaining one is a Mixed Tag Team match. A single Rumble match itself runs for over an hour – making it quite unlikely that anymore matches are going to be added to the card.
The Royal Rumble 2022 card currently includes:
- 30-Man Royal Rumble match
- 30-Woman Royal Rumble match
- WWE Championship match: Brock Lesnar vs Bobby Lashley
- Universal Championship match: Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins
- Raw Women’s Championship match: Becky Lynch vs Doudrop
- Edge and Beth Phoenix vs The Miz and Maryse
