WWE Royal Rumble results – 31/01/2021 (Men and Women’s Royal Rumble matches)

The show kicked off with a highlight reel for the 34^th annual Royal Rumble special. A huge pyrotechnics display inside the WWE Thunderdome at Tropicana Field followed.

Drew McIntyre def. Goldberg (retains WWE Championship)

Before the bell rang, McIntyre gave a Glasgow Kiss followed by a Spear. Goldberg fought back and speared the Champion through the barricades. McIntyre slowly makes his way inside the ring and shouts to start the match.

Goldberg went for another Spear, but McIntyre kneed him to the face. He went for a Claymore but Goldberg countered it. Goldberg connects two Spears on the Champion. He followed with a Jackhammer but McIntyre kicked out.

McIntyre hits a Claymore Kick for the win. Goldberg walks up to McIntyre after the match and shakes his hand. They embraced, as Goldberg raised McIntyre’s arm up.

Sasha Banks def. Carmella (retains Smackdown Women’s Championship)

As the match began, Banks went for a Bank Statement but Carmella got out of the ring. She talked trash after going out. As the match progressed, Carmella used her assistant Reginald’s help to get ahead in the match.

She even tried to tie Banks’ hair to the ring ropes. Banks was thrown out of the ring as Reginald caught her. Banks hit him with a head-scissor takeover. Carmella hit back-to-back superkicks but Banks applied the Bank Statement. Sasha Banks retained her Championship via submission.

Bianca Belair wins the 30-Woman Royal Rumble match

No.1: Bayley

No.2: Naomi

As the match began, Naomi hit a head-scissor takeover onto Bayley.

No.3: Bianca Belair

Belair immediately attacked Bayley with a dropkick. She slammed Bayley down and followed with a handspring splash.

No.4: Billie Kay

Kay did not enter the ring. She immediately went to the commentary table. Bayley almost eliminated Belair and Naomi.

No.5: Shotzi Blackheart

Blackheart entered and hit a missile dropkick on Bayley and a headkick to Belair. She threw Naomi over the rope, but she fell on the apron. Bayley tried to eliminate Blackheart but she blocked with an elbow.

No.6: Shayna Baszler

Billie Kay walked up to Baszler  with a proposal to team up. But Baszler punched her. Belair went crazy in the ring as she attacked everyone.

No.7: Toni Storm

Kay again tried to team up Storm but was blown off again. She hit Bayley and Blackheart with German Suplexes. She hip attacked Naomi. Blackheart went to attack Baszler but was elbowed. Baszler threw Blackheart over the rope. Shotzi Blackheart was eliminated.

No.8: Jillian Hall

Hall agreed to partner up with Kay. They attacked Naomi, and tried to eliminate her.

No.9: Ruby Riott

Riott entered and clotheslined Bayley and Belair. She attacked Storm. Storm tried the German Suplex but Riott countered. She superkicked Storm, as Billie and Hall attacked Naomi.

No.10: Victoria

Victoria wildly clotheslined everyone in the ring. Naomi countered her with a dropkick. But Victoria too fought back with a slingshot leg drop.

No.11: Peyton Royce

Royce attacked Riott as soon as she entered. Royce and Kay attack Victoria. It is an IIconics reunion. Victoria hit Royce with a Widow’s Peak.

No.12: Santana Garrett

Garrett attacked Storm and Riott. She hit a handspring elbow onto Storm. On the other side of the ring, Belair was almost eliminated but she managed to come back in.

No.13: Liv Morgan

Morgan kicked Garrett and hit Bayley with a flatliner. Jillian turned on Kay and hit a Samoan Drop. Billie eliminated her and Riott Squad threw her out. Jillian Hall and Billie Kay were eliminated.

No.14: Rhea Ripley

Ripley viciously attacked Morgan and Belair. She dropkicked Storm and threw her out. Toni Storm was eliminated.

Baszler held Victoria in a Kirifuda Clutch outside the ropes. Victoria fell off to the floor. Victoria was eliminated.

Ripley put Garret over the ropes and kicked her out. Santana Garrett was eliminated.

No.15: Charlotte Flair

Flair got in the ring and attacked Ripley. She also hit Morgan with a fallaway slam. Bayley entered and Powerbombed Riott to the floor. Ruby Riott was eliminated.

No.16: Dana Brooke

Brooke entered with a missile dropkick and a somersault senton. Morgan was trying to eliminate Bayley with a head-scissor over the top rope and Royce save her and eliminated Morgan.

No.17: Torrie Wilson

Wilson entered and hit Brooke with a chop. She gave Bayle an X-Factor and a Suplex for Royce. Brooke was trying to eliminate Ripley. But Rhea powerbombed her to the apron and Brooke fell to the floor. Dana Brooke was eliminated.

No.18: Lacey Evans

Ric Flair came out first and welcomed Lacey Evans. She was wearing Flair’s robe. Flair viciously stomped her as she entered the ring. The feathers of her robe fly everywhere. Royce went to attack her but she moved out of the way. Royce fell to the floor. Baszler eliminated Wilson and Belair eliminated Bayley.

No.19: Mickie James

She hit a head-scissor onto Belair and a neckbreaker onto Naomi. James hit a hurricanrana onto Flair. But Flair stomps at her.

No.20: Nikki Cross

Cross took down Baszler. She attacked everyone inside the ring. But Flair was the only one who was able to counter.

No.21: Alicia Fox

R-Truth came behind Fox. She managed to roll up Truth and win the 24/7 Championship.

No.22: Mandy Rose

Rose entered and attacked Fox. She kneed Fox in the head and eliminated her. Truth rolled her up to win his title back.

No.23: Dakota Kai

Kai entered and continued to attack Ripley. But Ripley was able to counter.  On the other side Lacey Evans hit a Women’s Right onto James to eliminate her.

No.24: Carmella

While Carmella was making her entrance, Ripley slammed Kai to the apron and eliminated her. She eliminated Rose as well. This was her fifth elimination in the match. Carmella also entered and eliminated Nikki Cross.

No.25: Tamina

She kicked Reginald, who dropped Carmella, eliminating her from the match.

No.26: Lana

Lana was steamrolled by Tamina. Naomi attacked Belair while Flair tried to eliminate Evans.

No.27: Alexa Bliss

Bliss came in and attacked Naomi and Flair. The lights started to go out, as Bliss started transforming. But Ripley eliminated her.

No.28: Ember Moon

Moon also ran down and attacked everyone in the ring. Lana tried to eliminate her but she was taken down.

No.29: Nia Jax

Baszler eliminated Lacey Evans. Jax eliminated Moon. Baszler then eliminated Naomi. The Tag team duo together eliminated Tamina. They started attacking each other. Jax eliminated Baszler.

Lana applied the sleeper hold onto Jax, as Jax powered over the ropes and fell outside. Jax was eliminated.

No.30: Natalya

Natalya was attacked by the tag team duo outside the ring. As she entered the ring, she eliminated Lana. Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair and Natalya are the final four.

Natalya reached the top rope but Ripley pulled her to eliminate her. Belai then teamed up with Ripley to eliminate Flair. Belair after some action hit a clothesline to eliminate Rhea Ripley.

Bianca Belair won the Women’s Royal Rumble. She cried while she celebrated.

Roman Reigns def. Kevin Owens (retains Universal Championship in a Last Man Standing match)

As the match began, they started brawling inside the ring. They hit their signature moves multiple times in the initial moments of the match. Reigns used the steel steps as a weapon as the action continued outside the ring.

Owens and Reigns climbed up the virtual fans area and continued to brawl. The challenger was thrown off from the area but even then he managed to get up before the count-out.

Owens went backstage, and Roman crashed a golf-cart into him. He manages to get up again at 9. Owens suddenly attacks Reigns with brutal punches. He climbed up a forklift and hit a Senton Bomb onto Reigns.

They come back to the stage, as Reigns speared Owens through the LED wall. The brawl continued, as Owens handcuffed Reigns to the lowest part of a pillar. Reigns was unable to get to his feet. As referee reached the count of 9, Reigns crashed him into the pole. He low blowed Owens.

Paul Heyman opened the handcuffs and Reigns applied the guillotine choke. A new referee came in and counted out Owens, as Reigns retained.

Edge wins the Men’s Royal Rumble match

No.1: Edge

No.2: Randy Orton

Edge attacked Orton while he was making his entrance. He sent Orton into the LED apron. They got in the ring, as the match began. Orton got out of the ring. Edge attacked him on the announcer’s table.

No.3: Sami Zayn

Zayn and Orton double-teamed on Edge.

No.4: Mustafa Ali

Ali too joined Orton and Zayn in attacking the Rated-R Superstar. Ali mentioned that Edge was taking away the spotlight from the young ones.  

No.5: Jeff Hardy

Hardy attacked Orton as soon as he got in the ring. But Zayn, Ali and Orton teamed up against him too. Edge fought back and hit a Spear onto Orton, followed by an Impaler on the table.

No.6: Dolph Ziggler

This is Ziggler’s 14^th Rumble appearance. Edge attacked Orton’s leg with a chair, while Ziggler eliminated Hardy.

No.7: Shinsuke Nakamura

Nakamura and Ziggler brawl inside the ring. Orton is limping, because of the attack.

No.8: Carlito

Carlito walked out with his apple. Nakamura bit the apple and angered Carlito. He hit a Backstabber on Nakamura, Ali and Zayn.

No.9: Xavier Woods

Woods came out and attacked his current rival Ali. He sent Ali over the ropes, but Ali held on. Carlito tried to eliminate Ziggler.

No.10: Big E

The Intercontinental Champion attacked Zayn. The New Day teamed up inside the ring and eliminated Zayn.

No.11: John Morrison

Morrison and kicked a few people. The New Day were double teaming on Lee. Ali eliminated Woods, infuriating him. Big E eliminated Ali.

No.12: Ricochet

Ricochet was really high flying in the match. He attacked Edge and Morrison, while Big E hit a suplex on Nakamura.

No.13: Elias

Elias chokeslammed Ricochet. A Drift Away for Morrison. He eliminated Carlito.

No.14: Damian Priest

Priest attacked Elias. He turned Ricochet inside out. A spin kick for Morrison. Priest and Edge double clothesline each other. Orton is shown applying an ice pack backstage in his injured knee.

No.15: The Miz

Miz destroyed the DJ stand with his MITB briefcase. The DJ, Bad Bunny came out angrily. Miz and Morrison invite him in the ring, as Priest eliminated the duo. Bunny went to the top rope and hit a cross-body block on the two of them.

No.16: Riddle

Riddle came in and attacked every single wrestler inside the ring.

No.17: Daniel Bryan

Bryan hit some running dropkicks, followed by a German Suplex onto Ricochet.

No.18: Kane

Kane uppercut some of the wrestlers and a Chokeslam for Edge. Nakamura and Riddle meet the same fate. Kane eliminated Ziggler and Ricochet. Kane and Bryan hug in the ring, before Kane chokeslams him. Priest eliminated Kane.

No.19: King Corbin

Corbin attacked Riddle and Bryan. Nakamura fought him off. But Corbin countered and eliminated Nakamura.

No.20: Otis

This is his first Royal Rumble appearance. He took down Corbin and Big E. Otis also hit a Caterpillar onto Priest. Corbin blindsided and eliminated him.

No.21: Dominik Mysterio

Corbin attacked Mysterio as soon as he got in the ring. But Mysterio hit a head-scissor to eliminate Corbin.

No.22: Bobby Lashley

Lashley attacked Dominik and sent him over the top rope to eliminate him. He hit a one-armed Spinebuster onto Priest and eliminated him. Lashley and Big E went head-to-head.

No.23: The Hurricane

Hurricane went for a double chokeslam onto Lashley and Big E. but they pick him up and slam him outside the ring.

No.24: Christian

Edge was emotional to see his storyline brother and real-life best friend. He eliminated Bobby Lashley.

No.25: AJ Styles

Omos walked out with Styles. He attacked Edge and Christian. Edge countered a Phenomenal Forearm with a Spear.

No.26: Rey Mysterio

Mysterio attacked Christian with a senton. He almost eliminated Styles, but Omos caught him. Omos grabbed Big E and eliminated him.

No.27: Sheamus

Sheamus hit the chest with the 10 Beats onto Riddle and Edge. Mysterio went for a 619 on Styles, but Omos caught him between the ropes and pulled him out. Mysterio was eliminated.

No.28: Cesaro

Cesaro hit running uppercuts onto everyone in the ring. He and Sheamus attacked everyone, before Cesaro took him down with his Swing.

No.29: Seth Rollins

Cesaro nearly eliminated Rollins. Rollins got angry and punched away at Cesaro.

No.30: Braun Strowman

Strowman wildly threw people around. He flung Styles, but Omos caught him. Cesaro picked him up, but Strowman eliminated him. Sheamus and Styles were also eliminated by Strowman. Rollins hit a Stomp to eliminate Bryan. Same fate was met by Riddle.

Rollins, Strowman, Edge and Christian are the final four. Rollins tried to team up with Strowman, but Braun attacked him. Christian tried to attack him, but Rollins came from behind and eliminated Strowman and Christian.

Edge hit a flapjack and pushed Rollins over the top rope. Randy Orton sneaked in from behind and hit an RKO onto Edge. He went to eliminate Edge, but Edge spun around to eliminate Orton.

Edge won the Royal Rumble second time in his career. He will be main-eventing Wrestlemania 37.
