WWE Smackdown results – 15/01/2021 (Universal Championship contract signing, More Royal Rumble participants announced)

Reigns with Pearce and Heyman

The episode kicked off with the clips from last two weeks featuring Roman Reigns and Adam Pearce. Reigns was reading the contract backstage. He felt that the contract was just like any other contract. Reigns wanted a stipulation. Paul Heyman said he will take care of it.
Jey Uso’s segment

Uso welcomed everyone to the Bloodline show, because the show is run by him and his cousin. Uso wanted Pearce to thank Roman Reigns. It is because of Reigns that millions of people will be watching Pearce.
Uso also announced that he will be entering the WWE Royal Rumble. His plans after winning is to go to Raw and defeat Drew McIntyre/Goldberg to win the WWE Championship. But before that he had business with Nakamura.
Shinsuke Nakamura won the Gauntlet match, before Uso and Reigns attacked him and helped Pearce win. Nakamura comes out. He said if Reigns is the Big Dog, Jey is the little puppy. Nakamura kicked Uso down.
Shinsuke Nakamura def. Jey Uso

As soon as the match began, Nakamura went for the cover, but Uso kicked out. Nakamura went into an all-out attack mode. Uso tried to counter but was unsuccessful in the initial part of the match.
Nakamura continued with his kicks and put Uso in a headlock. Cesaro’s music hits. He joined the commentary. He mentioned that he will be entering the Royal Rumble. Nakamura continued to dominate.
Jey soon got some momentum. He went for a cover with his legs on the ropes. The referee noticed and stopped the count. Nakamura hit a Kinshasa, and picked up the win via pinfall. Cesaro got in the ring as they celebrated.
Natalya def. Liv Morgan

Tamina is accompanying Natalya, while Billie Kay and Ruby Riott have joined Liv Morgan. Both the wrestlers exchanged reversals as Natalya dropped Liv onto the to ropes.
Natalya went for the cover, but Billie Kay started arguing with the referee. Tamina told Kay to leave, as they got into an argument. Kay jumped inside the ring, and got in Liv’s way. Natalya rolled up Morgan to pick up the win.
Baron Corbin def. Rey Mysterio

Dominik Myesterio was on the commentary team. As the match began, Rey pushed Corbin into the turnbuckle. Corbin countered with a clothesline. He taunted Dominik. Rey managed to apply a bulldog.
Corbin managed to reverse a 619 into a Deep Six. He went out of the ring, and knocked down Dominik. Dominik got inside the ring, but Rey asked him to leave. Corbin pushed Rey onto Dominik. He hit the End of Days to pick up the win.
After the match Dominik tells Rey that he backed down. Rey mentioned that he needs to have a plan. He tells his son that if he wants to take care of Corbin, he knows whom to talk to.
Ding Dong Hello with Bayley

There was a giant door in the ring with a couch. Bayley welcomed everyone to the Ding Dong Hello show. Her guest was Bianca Belair. Belair came out.
Bayley told her to enter through the door and ring the bell. She congratulated Bianca on her WWE chronicle. But she soon started disrespecting her. Belair asked her for a match right then. Bayley said she knows it is reverse psychology.
She instead challenges her to an ultimate athlete obstacle course next week. Bianca accepted the challenge.
Cesaro def. Daniel Bryan

Cesaro began with a shoulder takedown. Both run to the ropes, and Bryan hits a hip toss. Bryan continued to aim the left arm of Cesaro. They continued with some back-and-forth action.
Cesaro bled from the back of his head during the match. Bryan went to hit the Yes kicks, but Cesaro threw him in the air and hit an uppercut. Cesaro hits a Neutralizer and got the pin.
Apollo Crews def. Sami Zayn

Prior to the match, Reigns and Heyman were talking to Crews. We might see him join Reigns’ stable soon. Big E was on the commentary team for this match. The action went outside the ring in this match.
Apollo was on the commentary table and hit a moonsault onto Sami. He threw Sami back into the ring. He climbed the top rope but Sami tripped him. Sami went for a Helluva Kick but Crews grabbed Sami by the tights and got the pin.
After the match Crews grabbed the Intercontinental Championship. Big E stood up and took it back.
Universal Championship contract signing

Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman and Jey Uso walked out to the ring. Adam Pearce came out with the contract. He signed the contract and gave the folder and pen to Reigns.
Heyman threw away the pen, and gave his own to Reigns. The Universal Champion signs the contract. Pearce looked happy. He said he waited all night for Reigns to sign the contract. Roman looked confused.
Adam grabbed his leg and started walking. He told his leg had been hurting throughout the day. Pearce mentions that Reigns has signed a standard WWE contract, which mention Card subject to change.
As a WWE official, Pearce declares that his replacement will be Kevin Owens. Owens comes out and signs the contract, as the show comes to an end.
