WWE Smackdown results – 29/01/2021 (10-man Tag team match, Braun Strowman returns)

This was the Smackdown go-home show for the WWE Royal Rumble. The show kicked off Daniel Bryan in the ring.

Daniel Bryan’s segment

Bryan welcomed everyone to Smackdown and the Royal Rumble weekend. He is excited to go after the one accomplishment that still eludes him. Bryan knows that main-eventing at Wrestlemania can be life changing. He thanked Gable and Otis’ Alpha Academy for preparing him.

AJ Styles comes out. He belongs to the Raw roster. Bryan points that out. Styles said he had built the Smackdown brand. Omos reminded that every quarter any Superstar from any brand can go to the other WWE brand. Styles said that Bryan has his one foot out of the door.

Bryan challenged him to a match. AJ said he doesn’t mind warming up for Royal Rumble and he pushed Bryan. Bryan said that if AJ was a man he would come out for the match without Omos. But irrespective of that Bryan will beat Styles.

Bianca Belair def. Bayley

The match began with Belair reversing an arm bar into a body slam. Bayley tried again, but it was reversed into a suplex. Bayley tried to attack in various ways, using Belair’s hair.

Bianca lifted Bayley up and hit a Kiss of Death. She went for the cover and picked up the win.

After the match Belair mentioned that it was the biggest win of her career. Now the only thing that could top that would be a win in the Royal Rumble match.

Baron Corbin def. Dominik Mysterio

While Corbin was making his entrance, Mysterio attacked him from behind. Rey Mysterio is on commentary for this match. Corbin went outside the ring as soon as the match began. He went back and slammed Mysterio onto the mat.

Dominik tried to attack throughout the match but Corbin was able to counter all of the moves. He went for the 619, but Corbin caught him. But he manages to hit an acrobatic DDT. He went for the jump kick but Corbin ducked. Corbin hit the End of Days and won via pinfall.

Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns’ segment

Owens and Reigns are sitting in separate rooms. Owens mentioned that he had beaten Reigns on two occasions. But it was Reigns’ family members who helped him in retaining his Universal title. But nothing can stop Owens in a Last Man Standing match.

Paul Heyman said that Owens should not speak about the Tribal Chief in such a manner. He should speak to and of Roman Reigns with respect. Reigns said he had a few questions for Owens. He asked if Owens’ father is a smart man?

He said that Owens doesn’t know his own limitations because his own father did not teach him. Owens is just a pawn and Reigns is the King. Everything revolves around Reigns. He will be losing at the Royal Rumble but Owens should blame his own family for it.

Daniel Bryan def. AJ Styles

Cesaro is on commentary for this match. Both man continued with some back and forth action. Styles went for the Suplex, but Bryan countered it into an underhook Suplex.

Sami Zayn came out. The action continued inside the ring, as Sami protested in front of Michael Cole, Cesaro and Corey Graves. As the match progressed, Big E’s music hit.

The Intercontinental Champion came out. He hit Sami Zayn with a clothesline who was saying that Big E wasn’t his Champion. He threw Zayn onto Cesaro, who moved out just in time. Cesaro and Big E start pushing each other. Bryan hit a Suicide Dive onto the three men outside the ring. Sami attacked Bryan, as the referee called for the bell and Bryan won via disqualification.

Shinsuke Nakamura came out. He knocked down Zayn and Styles. Sami pushed Nakamura onto Cesaro, as a brawl broke out between the six men.

Daniel Bryan, Shinsuke Nakamura and Big E def. Sami Zayn, Cesaro and AJ Styles

Cesaro hit a German Suplex onto Nakamura as soon as the match began. He went for the Neutralizer on Big E but the Champion slammed Cesaro onto the mat. He went for the cover but Cesaro kicked out. The Miz’s music hit.

The Miz and John Morrison came out. They attack Big E and Nakamura, as the referee called for the bell. Bryan, Big E and Nakamura won via disqualification. Otis came out. He knocked out Miz and Morrison.   

Sheamus, Daniel Bryan, Shinsuke Nakamura, Big E and Otis def. Sami Zayn, Cesaro, AJ Styles, Miz and Morrison

Sheamus entered the match mid-way. He completely cleaned the house. He hit back to back Irish Curse backbreaker and cloverleaf. He hit a Brogue Kick onto Sami Zayn to pick up the win.

Styles and Miz attacked Sheamus after the match. Braun Strowman came out. He completely knocked everyone out as the show came to an end.
