Bryan attacked Edge
The episode of WWE Smackdown kicked off with the highlight of last week’s show. Daniel Bryan defeated Jey Uso in a steel cage match to earn a Universal Championship match at WWE Fastlane.
Edge’s segment
The 2021 Royal Rumble winner walked down the ring. He said that many people have told him to that he shouldn’t face a man like Roman Reigns, because he has kids and is a family man. But Edge finds it amusing. But Reigns demanded it. He wanted to be acknowledged, and Edge did exactly that.
Roman might be the head of the table, but Edge is the carpenter. Edge said he also wanted to address Bryan. Daniel Bryan claimed that he has wrestled more than anyone in the last 3 months. But Edge had done that even when everyone was wrestling once a week. He wrestled 4-5-6 times a week vs. The Undertaker, Mr.Perfect, Terry Funk, Eddie Guerrero over a time frame of four decades.
Daniel Bryan walked out. Bryan said he did not expect Edge to be offended by his remarks. He expected Edge to respect him for doing something in the business for himself. But Bryan clarified that him going after Reigns has got nothing to do with Edge. its about him main-eventing Wrestlemania.
Edge said he should’ve made himself clearer. Reigns beat Bryan at the Elimination Chamber. Edge beat him at the Royal Rumble. So Bryan going after them again isn’t nice. Bryan is better than this but not better than Edge. Bryan leaves the ring.
The Street Profits, Rey and Dominik Mysterio def. Dolph Ziggler, Robert Roode and The Alpha Academy
Gable, Otis, Ziggler and Roode attacked The Street Profits, Dominik and Rey from behind as they were making their way down to the ring. Dawkins and Roode started the match. A bulldog by Dawkins followed by a dropkick. Gable got in the ring but was hit a dropkick.
Ford tagged in and they double teamed on Roode. Dominik tagged in. He went for the cover but Roode kicked out. Dominik got on the ring apron and jumped off the top rope but a double axe by Otis took him down.
Ziggler and Dawkins were tagged in. Dawkins hit a clothesline. He ran to the ropes and hit a corkscrew elbow. Dawkins threw Ziggler across the ring and knocked Otis off the ring apron. Ford was tagged in as he climbed the top rope, Gable distracted the referee. Roode pushed Ford off the top rope.
Rey was tagged in. He knocked Gable down. Rey knocked Roode and Ziggler off the ring apron and hit a DDT takes Gable down. He jumped off the top rope with a sit down senton knocking Otis down.
All 8 men fought in the ring and it ended with Rey and Dominik hitting the 619 on Roode. Ford jumps off the top rope andswitches direction off in mid air and lands a frog splash on Roode. He went for the cover and got the pin.
Cesaro def. Murphy
Seth grabbed a chair and sat on the ramp, as the match began. A boot to the face by Cesaro knocked Murphy onto the ring apron. Cesaro climbed the second rope and grabbed Murphy but he pushed Cesaro down.
Cesaro grabbed Murphy from the ring apron and suplexed him off the second rope into the ring. Cesaro went for a series of uppercuts but Murphy with a kick. Murphy jumps off the second rope as Cesaro caught him and swung him around. Seth ran to the ring and attacked Cesaro as the referee called for the bell.
Rollins hit two stomps onto Cesaro. He grabbed the chair and placed it on Cesaro’s head. Rollins went for a curb stomp, but the WWE officials stopped him. Seth went backstage and faced-off against Shinsuke Nakamura.
KO Show with Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks
Owens said that the last few months had been tough for him physically and mentally. But he wont talk about himself. Owens welcomed his two guests into the ring – Belair and Banks.
Owens said that they have a chance to walk into Wrestlemania as Women’s Tag Team Champions. He recalled Cena and Shawn Michaels had done the same years ago. But they might lose at Fastlane because both of them are trying to prove that one is better than the other.
Banks mentioned that she is like the Michael Jordan of the Women’s division. Belair replied that she could be the LeBron James. While the two argued, Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler walked out with Reginald.
Tamina and Natalya def. Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair
Jax, Baszler and Reginald were on commentary as the bell rang. A slap by Sasha followed by a deep arm drag onto Natalya. She rolled to the outside. Sasha hit a baseball slide and threw Natalya back into the ring.
Reginald stood up and got Sasha’s attention. Sasha got back in the ring and Natalya knocked her down. Reginald walked across the announce table. Tamina stomped Sasha into the corner. Natalya hit a snap suplex onto Sasha.
Bianca tagged in with a spinebuster. She went for the cover but Reginald got on the ring apron and distracted the referee. Natalya with a clothesline onto Bianca. Reginald got on the table again as Sasha climbed the table and she chased Reginald.
Sasha got back in the ring as Natalya knocked her down. Bianca hit a right hand onto Natalya as Tamina rolled Bianca up and got the win. Bianca and Banks argued outside the ring.
Big E returns
The Intercontinental Champion walked out with crutches and a neck brace. He got rid of them as he walked out to the ring. Big E hoped that Crews knows that he crossed line. He opened a pandora’s box. Big E won’t defeat Crews, he will end him.
Big E called out Crews to the ring, but he did not. The Champion issued an open challenge to whoever wanted the match. Corbin came out dressed in a suit. He said that he isn’t dressed to fight but wont mind tearing his $10,000 suit or scratching his Rolex. Sami Zayn came out and accepted the challenge.
Zayn that Corbin did not accept the challenge. Plus, if Zayn won the title back, it would be a perfect ending to his documentary. Big E accepted the challenge.
Big E def. Sami Zayn (retains WWE Intercontinental Championship)
Sami began with a kick and a headlock. Big E slammed Sami into the turnbuckle. He ran for a spear but was taken down by a kick. Sami tried to choke Big E on the second rope.
Sami climbed the second rope and he hit an elbow to the face. Big E yelled Apollo and hit Sami. Big E got in the ring to break the referee’s count. He jumped for the big splash but Sami moved out of the way.
Sami sent Big E to the ropes and went for the clothesline but Big E ran through it. Big E hit Zayn with a clothesline followed by a Big Ending for the win.
Crews walked out and attacked Big E from behind. He hit an Olympic Slam onto Big E.
WWE Universal Championship contract signing
Adam Pearce asked them that who wanted to sign the contract first. Roman got in his face, as he pulled a chair for the Universal Champion. Bryan sat in Reigns’ chair. Reigns said that he isn’t feeling like signing the contract.
Bryan said that he was excited and signed the contract. Maybe Roman wasn’t signing because he realized that Bryan was better than him, when he made Jey Uso quit. Reigns got angry and asked for a pen. He signed the contract. Bryan said that he will make Reigns tap out just like Uso.
Uso got angry and threw the table outside the ring. Jey tells Pearce that the match needed a special enforcer, who will ensure that the match is fair and square. Edge walked out.
The Rated-R Superstar said that he has an idea. Next week, Edge will go against Uso, and the winner of the match will become the special enforcer for the Universal Championship match at Fastlane. Pearce made the match official.
Edge threw Reigns to the outside, as Bryan threw Uso outside. Bryan followed with a running knee onto Edge, as the show ended.
