Reigns and Cesaro
This was the final episode of Smackdown before the WWE Wrestlemania Backlash. The show kicked off with a segment from Jey Uso.
Jey Uso’s segment
Uso said he is the right-hand man, main event Jey Uso. But his brother disrespected the head of the table. So now he has no choice but to take care of the family business. He introduced the Head of the table, the man who will defeat Cesaro at Wrestlemania Backlash, Universal Champion, Roman Reigns.
The Universal Champion walked out with Paul Heyman. He said that they have some problems. One of them is about their brother, but first he wanted to talk about Cesaro. Reigns respects Cesaro. He is one of the best wrestlers in the world.
Reigns said that he is more than a wrestler. He is the tribal chief, head of the table. Cesaro could never fulfil all these roles. WWE would never want Cesaro in Reigns place. Smackdown wouldn’t want that. FOX wouldn’t want that.
Reigns asked how many WWE World Heavyweight Championship matches has Cesaro been a part of. Heyman answered zero. Reigns asked how many matches has he had. Heyman answered 39.
Jimmy Uso walked out. He said Reigns was running his mouth, while Jey acted like his b***h. But Jimmy wasn’t. he wore a “Nobody’s b***h” t-shirt. Jimmy mentioned that he wasn’t sure whether their boy could surpass Cesaro. Jey got angry.
Jey said that Reigns had done a lot for the family. But Jimmy refuted that Reigns was a part of the family, not the whole of it. Reigns said that he thought Jimmy could fill his shoes, and beat Cesaro. Jimmy disagreed. But said he and Jey together could defeat Cesaro. They could even become the Heads of the Table when they become Tag Team Champions and Reigns loses his title.
Reigns disagreed. He said he is the Tribal Chief. 5-time Wrestlemania main-eventer. He carried the burden of the company; he is now the face of the company. He asks Jimmy to represent what he represents.
Jimmy Uso challenged Cesaro for a match, Cesaro walked out and accepted the challenge.
Natalya and Tamina def. Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler (New Women’s Tag Team Champions)
Reginald distracted Tamina as the match began and Nia attacked her. Nia threw Tamia into the corner as Shayna tagged in. Tamina countered with right hands and kicks. Natalya was tagged in and they double teamed Shayna.
Natalya went for the cover but Reginald got on the ring apron and distracted the referee. Reginald was kicked out of ringside. On the outside, Nia hit a Samoan drop on Tamina onto the barricade.
Shayna attacked Natalya’s arm and tagged Nia in. They double teamed Natalya. Nia went for the cover but Tamina bodyslammed Shayna onto Nia. Tamina went for a kick but Shayna blocked it and twisted her leg but Tamina dropped her down.
Tamina climbed the top rope but Shayna kicked her. Nia was tagged in. Nia got up on the second rope, she went for a suplex but Tamina fought back and knocked Nia down. Natalya hit Shayna with a German suplex on the outside. Natalya got in the ring and Nia hit her with a Samoan drop. Tamina hit the Superfly Splash onto Nia for the win.
Natalya and Tamina were emotional after the match. Tamina thanked Natalya and said this was for their families.
Medal of Honor Ceremony
Apollo Crews said everyone will witness a special ceremony. Commander Azeez had helped him time after time. With his help, Crews managed to restore the glory of Intercontinental Championship. For Azeez’s act of bravery and loyalty, he presented him with the most distinguished medal, the Nigerian Medal of Honor.
Big E appeared on the big screen. He called it all a joke. Out came Sami Zayn. He said it was typical Big E, always making mockeryof everything. But Sami respected a good award ceremony. But he had a bone to pick with Crews, as he held his Intercontinental title.
Zayn wanted a chance to reclaim it. Out came Kevin Owens. He chased Zayn to the ring, as Azeez attacked Owens. Big E attacked Azeez. Owens went for a kick to Crews but hit Big E. He then superkicked E and Zayn as well. Big E hit a Big Ending on Owens and was about to hit Crews when Azeez grabbed him outside.
Rey Mysterio def. Dolph Ziggler
A side headlock by Dolph and sent Rey to the ropes. A back elbow knocked Rey down. Rey threw Ziggler to the outside and followed with a slide splash. Rey went for a crossbody but Ziggler moved out of the way. Ziggler pushed his knee into Rey’s back but Rey managed to get a rope break.
Rey hit a tornado DDT and got on the ring apron. Both men climbed the top rope as Ziggler went for a superplex but Rey blocked it. Rey knocked Ziggler down and Mysterio hit a sit down senton.
Rey went for the 619 but Ziggler moved out of the way and hit Rey with the Famouser. Ziggler went for the super kick but Rey ducked. Rey went for the 619 but Ziggler hit him with the super kick and both men were down.
Ziggler slammed Rey down onto the mat. He lifted Rey up but Rey rolled him up for the win. Roode attacked Rey after the match but Dominik made the save.
Bianca Belair’s segment
Michael Cole was in the ring with Belair. He said it has been four weeks since she won the title and now, she will be defending against someone who has held the title for over a year. Belair said that she was the best and it wasn’t up for debate.
A clip showing Bayley attacking Bianca was shown. Bayley appears on screen laughing. Belair asked her if she liked her braids. She called Bianca an idiot. Bianca called Bayley funny but also promised that on Sunday, her victory against Bayley will be her roughest and quickest victory.
Bayley continued to laugh. Bianca told Bayley that she was mad because she was busy getting thrown down the ramp by the Bella’s at WrestleMania while Belair was in the main event. Bayley said when she sees her throwing around her stupid ponytail, it feels like she is looking in the mirror of her own past. And on Sunday, this fairytale will end for good.
King Corbin def. Shinsuke Nakamura
Nakamura hit a knee and a kick to take Corbin down. Nakamura climbed the second rope but a right hand by Corbin knocked him down. Corbin sent Nakamura to the ropes but Nakamura with a kick to the face.
Corbin ran towards Nakamura but Nakamura ducked and locked an arm bar on Corbin. He turned it into a triangle but Corbin got to his feet as he lifted Nakamura up, he dropped Nakamura down and with the lock still in, Corbin got the pin.
After the match Nakamura hit Corbin with the Kinshasa and wore Corbin’s crown.
Cesaro def. Jimmy Uso
A drop kick by Cesaro at the start of them match took Jimmy down. A body slam followed. Jimmy back up faking an injury to distract Cesaro. He hit Cesaro with a super kick followed by a Samoan drop.
A head lock by Jimmy. He went for a suplex but Cesaro blocked it. Cesaro hit a suplex of his own. Jimmy got Cesaro in the corner and went for a splash but Cesaro moved out of the way. Cesaro went for a spear in the corner but Jimmy moved out of the way and hit a suicide dive through the ropes.
Cesaro jumped off the second rope but a kick by Jimmy knocked him down. Jimmy climbed the top rope but Cesaro hit an uppercut. Cesaro climbed the top rope and hit a superplex.
Jimmy rolled to the outside. Cesaro got on the ring apron and hit a cannonball onto Jimmy. He threw Jimmy back in the ring. Roman Reigns attacked Cesaro from behind as the referee called for the bell.
Roman threw Cesaro over the announce table. Jimmy asked Roman what he was doing and why he had to make it about him. Roman went face to face with him as Jimmy left the ring. Roman followed him and both men started arguing.
Cesaro attacked Jey in the ring. Roman got in the ring and attacked Cesaro. Roman yelled at Jimmy to get in the ring and help. Cesaro hit an uppercut onto Roman. He went for the Neutralizer but Jey attacked Cesaro. Jey told Jimmy to get in the ring.
Cesaro attacked Jey. Jimmy got on the ring apron and Cesaro knocked him down. Reigns left the ring. Cesaro grabbed Jey and hit him with the Neutralizer. Cesaro told Roman to do something as he grabbed Jey again and hit another Neutralizer, as the show ended.
