Cesaro and Reigns
The episode of WWE Smackdown kicked off with the clips of the Universal Championship match from Wrestlemania. Pat McAfee has joined the Smackdown commentary team.
Roman Reigns’ segment
The Universal Champion walked down to the ring with Jey Uso and Paul Heyman. He raised his title and walked around the ring. A “You Suck” chant filled the Thunderdome. Reigns asked Heyman to tell the viewers that whom he had defeated.
Heyman ran down the accomplishments of Edge and Daniel Bryan. He said that the match at Wrestlemania was closer to a handicap match than a triple threat match. Reigns mentioned that he Babe Ruth’d it, called his shot. He promised to stack them up, and that was exactly what he did.
But now, nobody wants to face him. No one wants to put their reputation on the line. But he has fulfilled his obligation of opening Smackdown. They began to leave as Cesaro walked in.
Cesaro went face to face with Reigns and looked at the title. He grabbed a microphone as Reigns, Heyman and Uso left the ring. Cesaro threw the microphone and stared at them.
Rey Mysterio def. Otis
As the match began, Otis ran through Rey, taking him down. Otis hit a right arm across Rey’s back followed by a gorilla press. Otis grabbed Rey and threw him to the outside.
Rey climbed to the top rope but Otis tripped him up and Rey in the tree of woe. Otis went for a spear but Rey jumped up and sent Otis into the ring post. Rey with a sitting senton. He went for the cover but Otis kicked out.
Rey tried to send Otis to the ropes but he couldn’t. Rey jumped off the second rope with a cross body but Otis caught him and slammed him onto the mat. Otis climbed the second rope and went for the splash but Rey moved out of the way.
Rey hit the 619. He climbed the top rope and jumped, he landed on Otis turning it into a crucifix cover for the win.
Sami Zayn’s segment
Sami Zayn he was screwed once again. He asked where that headline was. Sami said WrestleMania was supposed to be his vindication. He had Logan Paul, his guest of honor. He was supposed to help him with the documentary and was supposed to win but that didn’t happen.
Logan Paul’s mind was poisoned by Kevin Owens, by the WWE Universe talking bad about Sami. It was poisoned by Michael Cole and WWE management.
Zayn said he was distracted by that during the match as he kept thinking if Logan was fine. And that is the only reason why Kevin Owens was able to get a win against him. He said he will not be denied his vindication. Zayn called Kevin Owens out to the ring.
Kevin Owens def. Sami Zayn
Sami slid to the outside of the ring as the match began. Kevin chased him as Sami slid back into the ring. Kevin faked getting in the ring as Sami rolled out. Right hands by Kevin as he threw Sami onto the announce table.
Kevin got him in the ring and chopped to the chest. A clothesline and a running senton onto Zayn. Owens went for a cannonball but Sami rolled to the outside. A chop to the chest by Sami. Kevin lifted Sami up and threw him onto the top rope.
Kevin placed Sami on the top rope and a chop to the chest. But Sami hit a sunset flip powerbomb. Owens lifted Sami up and dropped him with a knee to the back of the neck.
Zayn rolled to the outside of the ring but again Kevin threw him back in. Owens went for the stunner but Sami got out of it and went to the outside of the ring. Owens grabbed Sami but a rake to the eyes by Sami who crawled up to the ramp and got counted out by the referee.
Owens attacked Sami after the match. He threw Sami back into the ring and hit him with the stunner.
Bianca Belair’s celebration
The Street Profits were in the ring. Ford said they received some inspiration at WrestleMania. It was a night to remember but there was one match in particular and that was the history making, glass ceiling shattering SmackDown Women’s Championship match.
Ford introduced the new SmackDown Women’s Champion, Bianca Belair to the ring. Bianca said she felt like she has been floating since Saturday night and she feels blessed. Despite the setbacks and the struggles, she never stopped believing that this moment was possible.
Bianca said her family has been making history for generations and they showed her that when you demand greatness from yourself, that no matter how hard things get, you can change the game.
Bianca said if you would have told her last year that she would be main eventing WrestleMania and winning the Championship, she would have said yes. But that’s not being cocky, that’s her being her.
Everyone has EST in themselves and when you realize that you have that, there’s nothing wrong with looking someone in the face and telling them that you are the best. Because if you can dream it, you can do it.
Belair said it wasn’t just about her. She thanked Sasha Banks because there’s no one she would have wanted to share that spotlight with than her and they both made history. She said that was for the little girl’s at the stadium or the one’s watching at home. And Wrestlemania was magic but they are just getting started creating history.
Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode def. The Street Profits (retain Smackdown Tag Team Championships)
Ziggler and Dawkins started the match. A dropkick by Ziggler to begin the match. But Ford and Dawkins double teamed Ziggler. An arm bar by Dawkins and Ford was tagged back in.
Ziggler with a kick and Roode was tagged in. They tried to double team Ford but Ford turned the tables. Dawkins was tagged in and they threw Ziggler to the outside. Dawkins with a bulldog on Roode and Roode fell to the outside.
A jumping corkscrew elbow by Dawkins took Roode down. Dawkins knocked Ziggler off the ring apron and Roode hit Dawkins with a spinebuster. Roode with a kick followed by a suplex. Ziggler taunted Dawkins and went for a drop kick but Dawkins caught him and catapulted him into the turnbuckle. Both men down.
Ford with a flying senton onto the outside as Dawkins was tagged in. Roode was thrown into the ring. A spine buster by Dawkins. Ford with a frogsplash. He went for the cover but Ziggler broke it up. Ziggler threw Dawkins to the outside.
Ford knocked Ziggler to the outside too. Ziggler tagged himself in and Ford didn’t see it. Ziggler with the Zig Zag on Ford for the win.
Natalya def. Shayna Baszler
A waist lock by Natalya but Shayna got out of it, as the match began. She went for a running knee but Natalya blocked it and went for the sharpshooter. Nia Jax pulled Shayna to the outside.
Both women exchanged reversals as Shayna got the upper hand. She went to stomp on Natalya’s arm but Tamina grabbed Natalya and pulled her to the outside.
Shayna ran towards Natalya but Natalya blocked it and hit her with a clothesline. She went for the sharpshooter but Nia distracted her. Natalya sent Shayna to the ropes but Shayna stopped before she collided into Nia as Natalya rolled her up for the win.
Cesaro def. Jey Uso
Cesaro took Jey down as the match began. Jey jumped but Cesaro caught him and hit a backbreaker. Jey rolled onto the ring apron. Uso went for a kick but Cesaro blocked it and knocked Jey down onto the outside. Cesaro stood on the ring apron as he jumped but Jey hit him with a superkick.
A Samoan drop by Jey. He went for a suplex but Cesaro blocked it. Cesaro lifted Uso up and a vertical suplex. He grabbed Uso but Jey attacked the arm and hit him with a superkick. Cesaro climbed the second rope and hit a gut wrench suplex.
Cesaro with a corkscrew uppercut off the second rope. Jey kicked Cesaro away. Cesaro went for an uppercut but a neckbreaker counter by Jey.
Cesaro dropped Jey and grabbed him by the feet. He spun Jey around and as he was spinning him, out came Seth Rollins who attacked Cesaro and the referee called for the bell.
Seth shouted that Cesaro got lucky and this wasn’t over, as the show ended.
