Roman Reigns returned to WWE after a brief Covid-forced break, during the latest episode of Smackdown. The Universal Champion was in the middle of a feud against Brock Lesnar, which had kicked off at WWE Summerslam 2021. This was being considered as the biggest feud of the year, but unfortunately, we got to see the two of them in action only once in 2021.
The Beast Incarnate and the Tribal Chief collided at WWE Crown Jewel 2021 – where Reigns secured a win after interferences from Paul Heyman and The Usos. Heyman -who recently reunited with his client Lesnar, was the special counsel to the Reigns, when the feud had kicked off. They were scheduled to collide once again at WWE Day 1 – but the plans went for a toss after the Universal Champion tested positive for Covid.
As a result of this, Roman Reigns was removed from the card and Brock Lesnar was added to the WWE Championship match. Surprisingly, Lesnar emerged victorious in the Fatal 5-way match and currently holds the WWE title. In a first for WWE – this feud is witnessing Lesnar as the babyface going against the dominant Heel Roman Reigns.
But the latest WWE Supershow were surprised to witness the Universal Champion breaking his character – which he has strictly maintained for a year and a half. At the the WWE Supershow in Glen Falls, after securing a win in his Tag Team match. The Universal Champion thanked the fans in attendance and asked them to stay safe.
“I’d like to take this time to thank you guys for coming out. We all know what’s going on with this pandemic. I just want you all to stay safe. I want you to protect yourselves so that we can see you all next time. Also, goodnight and thank you,” Reigns can be seen telling to the audiences.
Roman Reigns is set for a dream feud in Royal Rumble
The rivalry between Universal Champion Roman Reigns and WWE Champion Brock Lesnar has taken a back seat for now – as both the Champions have different feuds for the upcoming WWE Royal Rumble 2022. Interestingly, both of these are dream feuds.
While Lesnar will collide with Bobby Lashley for the first time ever, Reigns will be up against his former Shield brother Seth Rollins. WWE has also teased a Champion vs Champion match for Royal Rumble.
