WWE Survivor Series 2021: United States Champion will take on the Intercontinental Champion

WWE Survivor Series 2021 is still a couple of weeks away. Feuds, which would lead up to a match for this event, are yet to begin. But there a couple of matches which are bound to happen at the event. Survivor Series is one of the Big Four events of WWE. It features the Superstars from both the main roster brands battling in a Tag Team Elimination match for brand supremacy.
In addition to this, the Champions from both the brands battle against each other. The Universal Champion will take on the WWE Champion – leading to a massive Heel vs Face battle. The Smackdown Women’s Champion vs Raw Women’s Champion will benefit from the real-life heat between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch.
But the only Champion vs Champion battle which would struggle to gain heat at WWE Survivor Series 2021 is the one between the United States Champion and the Intercontinental Champion. Damian Priest and Shinsuke Nakamura hold the titles currently, respectively. The issue is that both these Superstars are babyfaces and it is going to be tricky for WWE to gain legitimate heat for their feud.
On the recent episode of WWE Raw, it seemed like the company has already started trying to work on the issue. Damian Priest got a slight makeover and had a new entrance theme too. This wasn’t the only change. Although his match ended in a disqualification, Priest came out looking really dominant from the match. He showed his infuriated side, slamming T-Bar with a steel chair and sending him into the barricade.
Shinsuke Nakamura could lose his title before WWE Survivor Series
While Damian Priest is being pushed heavily as the United States Champion, same is not the case with Shinsuke Nakamura, the Intercontinental Champion. This could indicate that in order to avoid the Face vs Face issue at WWE Survivor Series 2021, the company might altogether decide to get the title off from one of them. The push that Priest is receiving makes it quite unlikely that he will lose the title.
Shinsuke Nakamura is a Superstar who could continue to excel even without the title. Considering his current feud, he could lost to the title to Happy Corbin – setting up a perfect feud between Priest and Corbin. But for that to happen we need a Intercontinental Championship as soon as possible.
WWE Survivor Series 2021 airs live on 21st November.
