Bray Wyatt was quite possibly the single most creative-minded superstar to have graced pro wrestling. Over the years, he portrayed various sides of his cryptic character. At the age of 36, he died of a heart attack on Thursday, August 24. He was battling through an undisclosed illness until now, which was referred to as both “life- and career-threatening.”

Wyatt was a proven genius, and he had such an understanding of this business. Talents like him appear once in a blue moon. His spooky yet effective gimmick received widespread acclaim from the fans. So much so that he even started getting compared to The Undertaker. Wyatt and Taker shared a moment during RAW’s 30th anniversary special.

5. Debut of The Fiend on WWE RAW

Back in May 2019, WWE started running Firefly Funhouse vignettes for Bray Wyatt. Each week, he used to introduce his new puppets, which were obviously terrifying. However, the overall presentation of Wyatt had a pleasant vibe to it until he started to dig into his darker side. Then, he finally debuted as The Fiend on the June 15, 2019 edition of Monday Night Raw.

In the process, he took out Finn Balor with a Sister Abigail, and the Mandible Claw. That kicked off a spree, which saw Bray target different victims in the following episodes of the red brand. He had his first PLE match at SummerSlam against Balor, which The Fiend won easily. He went on to stay with the character until his release in 2021, which had glimpses of a resurrection during his return last year.

4. Beating John Cena at WrestleMania 36

John Cena was initially portrayed as if he’d be selfish to get himself booked into a match at WrestleMania in 2020. He talked about not snatching valuable spots away from full-time superstars. However, just as he was heading to the back, The Fiend stopped him at the entrance area. The two nodded in approval as their match later became official for The Showcase of the Immortals.

However, their showdown had to be shot behind closed doors as COVID ruined everything. They collided in a Firefly Funhouse match, which completely had a cinematic feel to it. Bray unleashed different versions of him, with Cena coming out to the NWO’s theme. It was pure madness all around. They never actually wrestled traditionally in that one; however, as far as entertainment is concerned, they delivered. Eventually, the Eater of Worlds won the match.

3. Returning to WWE at Extreme Rules 2022

After his shocking WWE release in 2021, everyone was baffled. Vince McMahon and Co. let go of one of their biggest assets so casually. Fans stood with Bray Wyatt and vowed to support him in whatever he did next. However, he never joined any other promotion and enjoyed time off from wrestling. Fortunes turned once again when he was brought back to WWE last year at Extreme Rules. It was one of the coldest wrestling returns of all time.

Triple H had only started to flex his arms as the creative spearhead of WWE. In the process, he corrected Vince McMahon’s mistake and called Wyatt back in front of a packed house in Philadelphia. After that, Wyatt had quite a presence on WWE shows. His first foe back was LA Knight. The two had a match at this year’s Royal Rumble, which Bray eventually won. After that, he was mysteriously taken off television.

2. Capturing the Universal Title at Crown Jewel 2019

After receiving a tag as one of the worst Hell in a Cell matches in history, Bray Wyatt and Seth Rollins met once again at Crown Jewel. Last time around, Rollins got himself disqualified as he smashed a toolbox into Wyatt’s face, which didn’t have to matter inside the cell. However, WWE’s theory made that relevant too. As a result, The Visionary retained his Universal Championship against The Fiend. That infamous showdown hurt both superstars in terms of their aura.

They tried again in Saudi Arabia at Crown Jewel. Once again, the superstars had to deal with a deplorable red-lighting effect during the match. Even though there wasn’t much difference in the match quality as compared to their previous encounter, the result wasn’t the same this time around. Fighting through the WWE Universe and explosives near the entrance, The Fiend eventually put away Rollins, capturing the Universal Title for the first time in his career.

1. Becoming WWE Champion at Elimination Chamber in 2017

Back in 2016–17, Bray Wyatt was a different breed. He had such a high stock and used to be a naturally intriguing character. In the build-up to WrestleMania 33, John Cena defended his WWE Title inside the Elimination Chamber. The packed field included Bray Wyatt, AJ Styles, The Miz, Dean Ambrose (now Jon Moxley) and Baron Corbin, apart from Cena. In the end, Bray pinned Styles to become the WWE Champion.

Then he went on to face Randy Orton at WrestleMania. His short-term ally lived up to his moniker of The Viper by turning on Bray Wyatt. At the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Orton ended Wyatt’s title reign. As it turned out, taking the WWE Championship off Bray so early wasn’t the best decision WWE made.
