Drew McIntyre was arguably the biggest babyface on WWE since the last two years. Surprisingly, in spite of being a babyface, McIntyre earned praises on par with the Heels of the company like Roman Reigns, Becky Lynch and Randy Orton, among others. His dream kicked off with a Royal Rumble win in 2020, followed by the WWE Championship win at Wrestlemania 36.

While throughout 2020, the Scottish Warrior was occupied with the Championship feuds. But 2021, was a year where he dominated the roster, even without being the Champion. In fact, there was no other Superstar who performed as much as McIntyre. In 2020, McIntyre was a part of 95 matches – highest in the company, and managed to win a staggering 73 matches.

Predictably, being a WWE Superstar is tough. You are 300 days on the road and when you are Drew McIntyre, you are performing at probably every single WWE event. Performing for throughout the year is bound to take a toll on the body and that’s exactly what had happened. McIntyre was having some issues with his neck as a result of which he was written off TV at Day 1.

We now have some idea on when the Scottish Warrior may be returning to WWE television. As per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, McIntyre is expected to be back in action close to Wrestlemania 38. This essentially rules out any possibility of him appearing during this year’s Royal Rumble.

Before McIntyre was written off television, he was all set to feud against the Universal Champion. The company is quite keen on pushing him as the guy who has a practical chance of pinning the Tribal Chief – that was also one of the reasons he secured a win on Day 1, although he was being written off.

Roman Reigns was involved in an active feud with Brock Lesnar but a forced card change led to Lesnar becoming the WWE Champion. Now Lesnar is currently involved in a feud with Bobby Lashley whereas Reigns is feuding against Seth Rollins.
