“You know you get 110 per cent back,” Christian Horner praises Max Verstappen for his incredible work ethic
Christian Horner and Max Verstappen
Christian Horner has been with Red Bull racing since that start. Having been in the sport for so long, the Brit has nurtured many young talents across his career. One of these extraordinary talents is none other than Max Verstappen. Christian followed the young man’s journey all throughout his karting days and his single seater days where he was eventually brought into the Red Bull program by Dr Helmut Marko.
After announcing him as a F1 driver with Torro Rosso for 2016, the team faced a lot of criticism but it all went down the drain when people realised that Max Verstappen is as a force to be reckoned with. Having also nurtured talents such as Sebastian Vettel, Christian Horner surely knows how to pick his drivers. This fact was further solidified this year.
Max Verstappen went on to win 2 back to back F1 world titles with the second one being of pure domination displayed by the young gun this season. While comparing the two world champions, Christian Horner said that both the German and Dutch world championship were two completely different types. However he further stated that both Max and Seb had the same determination and strive for success.
Christian Horner compares Max Verstappen with Sebastian Vettel
During an interview with Servus TV Christian Horner went on to talk about arguably his two favourite drivers. “Sebastian was very analytical, [he] looked at every little detail. Max – you put him in [the car] and you know you get 110 per cent back.” The boss of the successful Austrian team closed ended with a final word of praise. “They are both equally dedicated and determined, and it’s fantastic to work with them,” he said.
With Sebastian Vettel leaving the sport, it’s a bit sad for the whole paddock as the most wholesome man in F1 won’t be seen as frequently now. However many drivers think that he will be back. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen has proved to be a worthy successor to carry the Red Bull Racing legacy and bring the team to new heights. It will be interesting to see how Christian Horner and his team tackle 2023.
