Max Verstappen and Lando Norris are undoubtedly two of the most highly-rated drivers at the pinnacle of motor racing. While the former has already amassed 2 World Championships, the latter is yet to have a car in which he could also look to do the same. The two are very good friends, and Verstappen had recently admitted that he and Norris often talk about being teammates.
Max Verstappen has a contract at Red Bull until the end of the 2028 F1 season, whereas Norris is also contracted to the McLaren F1 team until 2025. The lights of Christian Horner and Co. have previously shown interest in the Brit, and they could look to get him after 2025.
While discussing the prospect of being teammates with the current McLaren driver in the future, Verstappen told Sky Sports, “We talk about it. But he’s contracted to McLaren for a long time. We’ll see what happens in the future.” The Dutchman has made it quite clear that racing together for the same team is something that he and Norris often discuss.
It is a well-known fact that Red Bull considers Max Verstappen as its most prized possession. They are not gonna let him go after 2028, and considering this, he and Norris could most probably become teammates at Red Bull as the second seat on the team is always under a lot of debate.

2026 could prove to be Red Bull’s best chance of snatching Lando Norris

While Max Verstappen is going nowhere until the end of the 2028 season, Red Bull could look to snatch Lando Norris away from McLaren after the 2025 season of the sport. Red Bull is the best-performing team under the new regulations, and this could tempt Norris to ditch the papaya-colored team.
However, it is not a guarantee, as McLaren is no slouch regarding F1. They are a historic team that has amassed a lot of success in the past and has got all the resources it could ask for to get back to winning World Champions. If the Zak Brown-led team can prove to Norris that they can produce a title-worthy car in the upcoming years, then the 23-year-old would want to stay put and renew his contract.
Max Verstappen has on several occasions admitted that he and Lando Norris are best friends, and keeping this in view, he could also play a key role in bringing Norris to Red Bull after 2025. In case the duo does become teammates at the Milton-Keyenes-based team, they would dominate the sport for many years to come.
