Fans believe Israel Adesanya‘s drunk driving case was a result of Jon Jones’s influence on him. Following his loss of the UFC middleweight title to Sean Strickland at UFC 293, Israel Adesanya couldn’t stop himself from getting into more problems. He has recently confessed to being part of a drunk driving incident in New Zealand, leading to his arrest for driving under the influence on Wellesley St. in Auckland Central.
The test indicated a blood alcohol level of 87 milligrams per 100 milliliters, exceeding the legal limit of 50 milligrams. Izzy is well known for partying hard after winning fights. The fighter knows how to balance pleasure and discipline but it seems like this time things got out of hand.
Faced with the possibility of either a $4,500 fine or a three-month prison term, Israel Adesanya is currently dealing with the unfamiliar aspects of legal consequences, a situation that many UFC stars have encountered in the past.
One of the major names is UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who in the past faced legal charges for DUI and also an aggravated DWI offense where he fired a gun while under the influence of alcohol and had no proof of insurance either. This has led fight fans to draw comparisons as Izzy is going down the same path as Jones once did.
Fight fans ridicule Israel Adesanya and Jon Jones after Izzy pleads guilty to drink driving
After the incident, Israel Adesanya has offered a sincere apology to his fans, friends, and family, openly admitting his responsibility for the drunk driving incident. However, this didn’t stop fight fans from comparing him with Jon Jones and predicting the downfall of the ‘Last StyleBender’.

Jon Jones and Israel Adesanya have had their fair share of conflicts in the past. Adesanya didn’t hold back from teasing Jones when he got into trouble with a DUI case. But things took an interesting turn earlier this year, in July, when Jones and Adesanya bumped into each other in Las Vegas. In a surprising twist, they put their differences aside, exchanged handshakes, and even showed signs of mutual respect.
However, this newfound friendliness between the two fighters has stirred up quite a discussion among fans. Some are of the opinion that Adesanya’s recent struggles may be linked to this reconciliation, as he seemed to follow a similar path after their meeting.
