Logan Paul vs Floyd Mayweather: Paul the real winner says Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn

Eddie Hearn and Logan Paul vs Floyd Mayweather
Logan Paul vs Floyd Mayweather is history. The YouTuber survived the full eight-rounds against Mayweather in their exhibition bout at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, last Sunday. Despite the fight being largely devoid of action, Paul was widely appreciated for stepping up into the boxing ring with a legend like Floyd Mayweather.
There was no winner in the fight, as the exhibition match had rules set in such a way that, only a knockout would determine a winner, due to the absence of judges.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Matchroom Boxing CEO and Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn claimed that ‘The Maverick’ was the real winner of Logan Paul vs Floyd Mayweather. Hearn went on to state that Mayweather wasn’t in his element despite being one of the greatest fighters of all time.
‘There wasn’t even a decision, it was so bizarre‘ – Eddie Hearn on Logan Paul vs Floyd Mayweather
Hearn was quoted as saying, “There wasn’t even a decision, it was so bizarre. But yeah, if there was a winner from the fight, it was Logan Paul, because I actually think it was bad for Floyd Mayweather.” [via Sky Sports]
He continued, “Any new-age fan, his legacy is already built, but anyone watching that would actually think that Floyd Mayweather wasn’t very good, and he is one of the greatest fighters of all time. I think, even by his own admission in the press conference after, he was semi-embarrassed to say, ‘Don’t think I’ll do any of those as well’.” [via Sky Sports]
Hearn isn’t wrong, but he should take note that Mayweather isn’t anymore the ‘Mayweather of the past’. He is currently 44 years old, retired almost 4 years ago, hadn’t stepped inside the boxing ring in almost 3 years, prior to the fight.
Paul is expected to continue his pro-boxing career. His brother Jake has been doing exceptionally well, he is scheduled to face Tyron Woodley on the 28th of August.
