The Miami GP Sprint was an eventful race for fans. Even before the start, things escalated with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc crashing out on his way to the grid. Drivers faced tricky conditions due to rain. Moreover, McLaren duo of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris found themselves in close contention yet again. Although, a late Safety Car ultimately handed the win to the latter. Norris confessed that he did get lucky this time around.
Oscar Piastri led the majority of the sprint after taking the lead from pole-sitter Kimi Antonelli at Turn 1 in a controversial move. Lando Norris closely followed his teammate throughout the course of the race. As the track dried up, Piastri and virtually the entire grid opted to go for slicks early. On the other hand, Norris stayed out a lap extra than his teammate.
Fernando Alonso crashed with just a handful of laps to spare, calling out the Safety Car right as Lando Norris went into the pits. The 25-year-old confessed that he had good luck during this race. With the Briton inheriting the lead and ending the race under the Safety Car, allowing him to bag some crucial points. Norris needed these points as he lost the title lead to Piastri last weekend.
My luck in Miami seems pretty good at the minute, so I’m happy. The pace was still very good but it’s so difficult these races.
Lando Norris said post-race
Moreover, the British driver acknowledged that drivers were at crossroads when the track started to dry. Lando Norris made the call opposite to that of Lewis Hamilton, who was one of the first ones to box. Ultimately, this indeed made the difference. Albeit, Hamilton too gained from his call and grabbed third place in the race.
Do you box early like Lewis, or stay out and hope for a Safety Car. I’d rather this happened tomorrow but I’ll take it.

Lando Norris ‘excited’ to battle it out at Miami GP
The Sprint race sets the right momentum for Lando Norris, who comes at the back of a few underwhelming results. The British driver who was considered the favorite for the 2025 title has won a single Grand Prix in the first five rounds. On the other hand, Oscar Piastri has won three races, a stark difference in the McLaren camp.

Nevertheless, the Miami GP win comes as a massive morale boost to Norris at the right time. Despite winning the race due to external factors, the 25-year-old remained confident. He made it clear that he was ready to take things further on Sunday.
It’s tricky, there are a lot of quick guys out there and I’m ready to go again. I’m excited!

Luck is a part of Formula 1. This time around, it was Lando Norris who managed to get the decision right courtesy of a late crash. While Oscar Piastri was simply unlucky. The Australian driver will now focus on getting the most out of the car during qualifying in order to gain an advantage against his teammate. Fans at McLaren can expect another heated contest between the two in the remainder of the weekend.
