Joe Gibbs Racing star driver Christopher Bell, the wingiest driver so far in the 2025 season, secured the maiden All-Star race win of his career on Sunday. He took advantage of the promoter’s caution, late in the race, to get the best out of defending Cup champion Joey Logano, who was determined to secure a back-to-back event win.
The No:20 TRD driver was over the moon following the victory and produced a massive smoke show, with his crew on his side, celebrating the win. Soon after Christopher Bell got out the track and was approached by Fox Sports for an interview, he proclaimed that the 0.6 miles track in the bets short track in the schedule and deserves a point-paying race.
C Bell: North Wilkesboro, how about that one? That’s right there is absolutely incredible. North Wilkesboro, best short track on the schedule.
Reporter: Are you saying you want a points race?
C Bell: Lets goo

Christipher Bell isn’t the only one, nor he is going to be the only calling for a point paying race at the trac. Ahead of the event, 2012 Cup champion Brad Keselowski has urged NASCAR to make that change. He wants NWS to get a Cup slot, and the All-Star race to be moved to Charllotte. The RFK Racing owner driver wants ROVAL to get cut to make room for it.
The victory was truly special and hard earned for the Joe Gibbs Racing team as the Team Penske duo of Joey Logano, who led over 139 laps, and Ryan Blaney were pretty strong on the day. If not for the timely caution call and Bell’s slightly more aggressive racing, the No:22 Ford Mustang would have been on the victory lane.
What were the biggest challenges of the day for Christopher Bell at North Wilkesboro?
Securing JGR’s first All-Star win since Kyle Busch’s triumph in 2019 wasn’t easy, and the No:20 crew played a significant role it. Logano, Blaney and Chase Elliott had solid cars, capable of winning, but the TRD side had the advantage of luck and strategy on their side. That paid of big times on the final laps of the race.

These boys (the No. 20 crew) have done such a good job on this thing. I told them going into it, this was the best car we’ve had in a long time. Joey was fast. He gave us a lot of competition, and the No. 12 (Ryan Blaney) was really good there and the No. 9 (Chase Elliott). They had competitive cars. The strategy – we knew it would be all over the place and it fell our way.
Christopher Bell said.
The biggest challenge of the day was over taking veteran Logano and then hang on to the lead. He was able to lean on Logano once he took the lead, employ some aggressive measures at the end to held on long enough that his tier advantage helps him to get into a comfortable state. Fortunately, everything worked out the way they intended.
He did a great job of trying to keep me behind him, and I knew that once I got that run off Turn 4, it was like alright, I’m going to have to be a little more aggressive and kinder of leaned on him and got him out of position. I knew once I got the lead, I had the tire advantage so I should be able to cruise, and it worked out that way.
Christopher Bell added.
The No:20 team is going into next week’s race at Charlotte Motor Speedway with a big advantage of positive momentum and will be hoping to use that to score his fifth win of the season. From the words of Bell, it is evident that any wins, other than victories in the playoff is going to matter more for him than the All-Star win this year.
