The Philadelphia Eagles are fortunate to have a selfless individual like Jalen Hurts as the face and quarterback of the team. Hurts’ agent, Nicole Lynn, and the president of football at Klutch Sports shared a story that will surely win over anyone who doubted his leadership skills.

During an appearance on SproutED’s YouTube channel, Lynn revealed that Hurts’ entire focus was on the team when she told him about his proposed contract extension. Lynn recounted that Hurts’ first reaction to seeing the number was worrying about his teammates instead of celebrating.

He’s like, ‘Don’t screw the team. Make sure my team is around me.’

Quarterbacks usually earn the most on a team. However, football is a team sport, and no matter how good one player is, he still needs equally good players to win Super Bowls.

Hurts trusted Lynn to deal with the negotiations so that he could focus only on playing football.

Jalen [Hurts] is just such a selfless guy. I mean, he was adamant about whatever deal… he told me to do the deal. He didn’t want any updates until it was done, which is very rare… You have a lot of clients that are like, ‘Give me every update. What’s the counter? He’s like, ‘I don’t want to hear anything. Just tell me when it’s done.’

In April 2023, Jalen Hurts signed a five-year, $255 million extension with a record $51 million per year and $179 million guaranteed. For a brief period, the former second-round pick became the highest-paid quarterback and player in NFL history.

In an age where college players are earning more than NFL rookies and buying expensive cars, Hurts is a rare breed who practices traditional values. He stays rooted to the ground and spends frugally.

During an interview with GQ in 2023, Hurts revealed he did not buy an apartment after moving to Philadelphia. He rents a small condo during the season and goes back to his mom’s place in Texas when the NFL is on break.

When he was asked the reason, Hurts said,

As a kid, I would always get gifts, and I always get gift cards, in the holidays… I never wanted anything [because] I was never really a needy person. Just start the same isn’t it? That’s always kind of the mentality. Give what you need kind of don’t abuse it a little bit… just because you can get it, doesn’t mean you need it.

It’s a big lesson for rookies and future athletes on how to stay humble even after becoming a world champion and one of the most recognizable faces on the planet.

The Pro Bowler recently walked down the aisle with longtime partner Bryonna ‘Bry’ Burrows in a private wedding at a Napa Valley Four Seasons hotel.

According to US Weekly, Hurts and Burrows met when he first started as the quarterback at the University of Alabama, around 2017. Burrows is an artificial intelligence partner with IBM and reportedly has a net worth between $4 and $6 million.
